Wishin' and Hopin' by Wally Lamb
Wishin' and Hopin' by Wally Lamb
4.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book, Feb. 16 2014
It was nice to read a fun book for a change. The last book I read Behind the Beautiful Forevers, about a young boy in a Mumbai slum, needed a counterbalance. Also I lived through the era of this book, although I didn't go to a parochial school we suffered through many bad Christmas pagents. i really love Wally Lamb's writing.
The Zen of Listening: Mindful Communication in the&hellip by Rebecca Z. Shafir
I gave this book only 3 stars because it took too long to get to the point. The first half of the book is not very useful and I almost gave up. Most of us could use help with listening, since we spend most of the time when other people are talking thinking about what we are going to say. I am a meditator, but still find myself doing this quite a lot. There are some good ideas in the book, but she takes awhile getting to them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a Stephen King fan, Sept. 27 2013
I am not a Stephen King fan. A friend recommended this book. I lived through the 1960's and remember the assasination and aftermath of J.F.K's assasination I decided to read it. Sci-Fi is not my genre either, but I really liked this book. It made me think about actions and how they affect the future. I made me think we should all be mindful of our speech and actions even in small things, because of the effect they have on others.
An entertaining read as well
