In My Own Words:
I read at work, at home, on vacation, while waiting, before bed, first thing in the morning and at any time in between. I have a strange taste for books and will read anything. Yes, anything. From non-fiction documentaries on Beer-Making or Scandinavian history to trashy historical romance and new'n hot sci-fi! I love texts on history and books about survival when the “grind goes down“. Beyond Belief: My Secret Life Inside Scientology a&hellip by Jenna Miscavige Hill
I read "Beyond Belief" cover to cover in just two short days. The story-telling style of Jenna and her co-author made this account of events easy to read and engaging--I felt a personal connection with Jenna and her feelings and thoughts as she went through the horrible experiences inflicted upon her by the Cult 'religion' of Scientology, and, more intimately, by her own parents who were heavily involved in the upper echelons of Scientology.

Before reading this book, I saw only a brief part of a documentary on Scientology and the Sea Org. so my understanding of Scientology could hardly be called comprehensive. The incredible committment of so many people to such a bizarre,… Read more
The Invention of Wings: A Novel (Original Publishe&hellip by Sue Monk Kidd
I have been a fan of Sue Kidd since I first saw the film adaptation of "The Secret Life of Bees". I have since read that book and listened to the audio version which I highly recommend as it is narrated very beautifully--however, though I was familiar with Kidd's previous work, I tend to shy away from books surrounded by a lot of P.R. hype and I've never been an 'Oprah Book Club' advocate. I like to make my own reading choices and not have someone else tell me what I should read. Never-the-less, I bought this book and did quite enjoy it despite the fawning of the critics.

The story has a baseline theme which is dear to my heart: early feminism and the courage and determination of… Read more
3013: RENEGADE (3013: The Series Book 2) by Susan Hayes
This book is listed as "Book 2" in the 3013 Series, but it is the first book written by Susan Hayes, and I would recommend skipping the first book and getting right to this one which is the first installment of the Grekov Family Saga.

In fact, I only have three words for you: Nikolai & Colin. These guys just SIZZLE. The physically perfect, genetically engineered Alliance Elites are so right that it is no wodner they are fantasy. They are aggressive, dominant and possessive in all the ways a romance Hero should be, and are the perfect foil to the lead female, Alayna, who is tenacious, fiesty, dangerous and sexy.

The relationship between Colin and Nikolai is… Read more
