There are some great recipies in here - and I will use many of them. The notes are obnoxious so I ended up skipping over all of the non-recipe writing. I havent eaten meat in over 20 years so I didnt need convincing but if I had, this wouldnt have done it!
I have not eaten meat for 21 years - but I am not vegan. I have also tried to cut out animal products but again not vegan, I still eat regular sugar, I dont ask if the lactic acid in my can of black olives is derived from whey etc. This book really does seem to be for folks who avoid meat and animal products because they feel for the animals. There was a lot of use of 'fake meat' to replace real meat, which is fine but I had been hoping for some other options. I think many of my carnivore friends and family dont like vegetarian fare because of fake meat (which apparently tastes nothing like real meat - it has been 21 years, I cant remember).
