Drawing: A Contemporary Approach by Claudia Betti
As a lecturer at a California University, I have yet to come across a book more resourceful than this.
It is the best book on drawing, from an educational standpoint, yet written.
Every college professor in the Arts the world over should have this book in their reference collection.
Its that good.

A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers
At first, the deconstuctionist thread was a bit irritating, but then as the novel progressed, I found myself completely transfixed. This is the best novel ever written by someone from our generation, hands down. All the naysayers, from what I have read, seem to be in a state of perpetual boredom, not only with their reading habits, but with their lives. To not understand and embrace this novel is like not getting excited about a hot shower, or seeing "Singin' in the Rain" for the first time. Plus, he likes The Flaming Lips.
