Excel Saga Vol 1 DVD ~ Takehito Koyasu
Excel Saga Vol 1 DVD ~ Takehito Koyasu
This is a hilarious anime and extremely random. Despite the randomness, there is a plot and a good amount of referential humor. The animation isn't incredible, but it's not poorly edited and thrown together. (B- action, musicals, survival movie, etc). This is highly recommended to anime watchers of all ages. Watch this subtitled, not dubbed!

Pros:
1. Random, hilarious.
2. Enjoyable characters.
3. Enough plot to make... some sense.
4. Side stories.
5. DVD commentary.
6. Each episode is a parody of a different style movie or anime
7. Lots of other good reviews.
8. Doesn't matter if you didn't like the manga.
9. Can be watched multiple times… Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars More like 2.5 stars, May 28 2004
I picked up a copy of "Priest" from Borders. I scanned through it: trains... zombies... zombies on trains... zombies on trains being killed by religious leaders... Wow! Sound good! The first book wasn't terrible, however this is basically a review for the entire series. It's a very, very typical plot about a man who sells his soul to the devil: the overused plot has been disguised with the setting (old west) and the fact the character is a "priest." I got the next couple of books, to find out that it was the same thing: gore, gore, gore, gore, blood, zombies, blood. A reason that I got the next two books was because I was left somewhat confused by book one (although there wasn't much to… Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Excellent, May 22 2004
Wow! I saw the anime (which has some of the best animation I've seen) and had to buy the graphic novel. I found that the pictures were detailed and the action sequences were very, very good. I'm thankful that they didn't try to squeeze the pen and ink drawings into tiny little boxes, making everything barely visible. It didn't skimp on the number of panels in each scene, making it smooth and easy to read. Buy this book.

Complaints:
1. I saw ten books in the series at the book store at twenty dollars each. That's $200 for part of a series.
2. Not recomended for young readers. There's loads of blood and cussing.
3. I've heard that this series used to be in color. The first… Read more
