Undeniably the best album of 2004. I picked up the CD in September and 6 months later I'm still blasting it on a near-daily basis. Emotionally sincere, heartrending, almost transcendent. Be sure to check them out in concert -- they're even better live.

I feel like the tagline for this record should be, "If you like the New Pornographers, then you'll love A.C. Newman." Slow Wonder is the full-length solo album from the ginger-haired frontman of the N.P., and it's full of the same catchy hooks, bouncy melodies, and instrumental eclecticism that endeared you to the New Pornographers. This album redeems the term 'pop', cramming into its mere 34-minute running time more instantly and infectiously hummable tunes than anything lining the top 40 shelf these days, while the inventive lyrics bring you back for repeated listens.
