Product Description

Rev. Alla Reneé Bozarth, Ph. D., Episcopal priest, author-poet, therapist

"...Simply stunningly brilliant and plausible, in every way...A lovely, powerful and important book."

Book Description

Abraham, The Dreamer is a fast-paced biblical novel exploring the turbulent relationship of Abraham, Sarah, and the other woman, Hagar--the First Family, of Jews, Christians and Muslims.

Abraham and Sarah set off to serve a new God in a new land, with an unspeakable family secret in their heart and a marriage in serious trouble. Childless, Sarah offers Hagar, her slave, to Abraham. Hagar not only gives Abraham a son, Ishmael, but also offers him a passionate, fulfilling love that he had never known with Sarah. When Sarah unexpectedly gives birth to Isaac, she drives Hagar and Ishmael away, arousing a deep-seated murderous rage in Abraham that, in time, threatens Isaac, all in the name of the new God.

2.0 out of 5 stars highly disappointing after reading the reviews, Feb 1 2004
I just finished this book and went back again to read the Amazon.com reviews. I purchased the book, largely based on those reviews.

I found this to be a moderately interesting story with poorly written dialog. The book itself is a slim offering, with many pages devoted to the author's self-promoting acknowledgements by others.

I am highly disappointed by this book and am sorry I wasted the money to buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fresh, provocative take on an ancient story, Aug 4 2002
By M. O'Hara - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Not only is this book extremely well-written I was amazed by all the historical detail and how the author captured an almost cinematic sense of time and place. Since I knew almost nothing about the story I was constantly surprised. The candid use of sexuality is not meant to titilate or exploit yet there is no denying the book really sizzles. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars a groundbreaking book for the modern goddess, Aug 1 2002
"It has been said that 'history is a lie agreed upon.' I applaud Rolf Gompertz for breaking tradition and shining the light on bible stories and leading characters that cry out for modern and truthful interpretation. Finally someone has put the goddess back into the bible, and honored the woman in all her power. Finally, we can read his-story as her-story too, and face all the deep dilemmas of life, as if they were our own. "Thank you, Rolf, on behalf of all women who are finally embracing their inner beauty and power in modern times." Audrey Hope,Host of "REEL WOMEN", an international cable talk show for women.
