The most fun you'll have travelling through hell, May 21 2012
By M. McFall "Yay interwebs" - Published on Amazon.com
John Carpentier is a washed out science fiction author who meets an untimely, yet seemingly appropriate inglorious fate, at a stale sci-fi convention afterparty. Now dead, he suddenly finds himself in Dante Alighieri's Hell, upon which he ventures through and tries to make sense of and reconcile, meeting many interesting characters amongst the damned, and facing multitudes of creative tortures/punishments that Alighieri would surely approve of. Fun, fantastical, and while it includes many historical/satirical references, it does not feel dated. It is the most fun you'll have traveling through Hell.
It's a very well paced read, with no part of the novel ever getting long in the tooth, or feeling like it is a one-trick pony. I've read and enjoyed this novel several times.
For young adults, this novel can also be a great segue in getting them interested in tackling the original work.
