The contrivance level is high on this debut by an R&B singer named for her out-of-a-bottle hair colour. La Face Records' latest female discovery is positioned midway between mainstream hip-hop soul and poor imitations of Kelis-style anger. Producer-writer She'kspere brings out his trademark machine beats for "There You Go", a pale copy of Kelis' "You Oughta Know". Still, that single's more artful than "Split Personality", which clumsily attempts to acknowledge three-dimensional human reality but really sounds like a fit of whining until Pink unleashes the inevitable melisma over the song's coda. Elsewhere, she makes nice on standard-issue ballads ("Stop Falling") and lite-reggae proclamations of love ("Private Show"). "I just wanna make you feel things", Pink sings at one point. Unfortunately, the emotion the cynical track Can't Take Me Home inspires most is annoyance. --Rickey Wright

I don't know why I bought this CD, but I did. What a terrible decision. This is probably the worst CD i've ever heard. There's only like 2 good songs on here; the rest is garbage. The sad thing is that ugly fat white suburban teeny boppers and lower-class black girls who have conversations about Ashanti's hair will/have gobbled this up like it was their last meal. If you like pop/r&b, stick to TLC or Boyz II Men. This is not good music, don't waste your time or money. I'll probably end up putting this CD in its place and throwing away this piece of crap, giving me more room on my shelf for good music like Ben Folds Five and video game soundtracks.

Well, for Pink with me it's like that: I can't believe her. First she's that Dallas Austin R&B chick where you really thought people told her: die your hair Pink and call yourself Pink. Then she says: now I'm "the real me" and tries to be a Punk but looks like Brigitte Nielsen. She seems to bend simply to fill in the current cliché. It's like she's a walking marketing trick. A bit like Miss Aguilera.

I give this album four stars even though I thought I'd be getting an album full of Pink anger and growling vocals, but instead I bought the Toni Braxton version of Pink. She sings as well as ever, but to this monotonous rap beat music that after the first two songs you wonder if the cd player got stuck and is replaying the same song over and over.
I would give it two stars because I'm not a fan of this music style, but Pink's voice is too good to do it that kind of injustice. Buy this album if you like Toni Braxton. Don't buy it if you expect to hear some original Pink.
