It's easy to identify the biggest attraction of Killing Me Softly: two fetching actors (Heather Graham, Joseph Fiennes) and lots of nudity--especially in the unrated version. It's harder to choose the bigger liability: the dialogue howlers (as Fiennes binds Graham in ropes, she says, "Sometimes I feel like I don't know you") or the incredibly obvious solution to the big mystery. The story is an unofficial update of Hitchcock's Suspicion: a new wife wonders whether her unbelievably charismatic husband might be a murderer. The Chinese filmmaker Chen Kaige (Farewell My Concubine) turns out to be exactly the wrong director for this overheated slice of l'amour fou in London, but with the hopeless pairing of Graham and Fiennes as the passionate lovers, he didn't have much of a chance. A nicely romantic Patrick Doyle score is the only reason not to hit the Mute button and enjoy the visuals. --Robert Horton

Although I'm not a member of the Heather Graham fan club I was willing to give Joseph Fiennes another whirl after his utterly sweet performance in "Shakespeare in Love", sadly I could only laugh at this drivel that wishes to mascarade as "noir" and it isn't even grey. The dialogue must have been rescued from the waste basket of a B movie writer reject. As for satisfying our prurient desires it doesn't rise to the occasion what with the high school amateur acting, ridiculous and predictable plot ... you get my drift. Watch The Weather Channel instead.

Well I have to say that the acting, lighting, and all that other technical jargin means nothing to me. I was up late one night and Killing Me Softly came on so I watched it. Lots of T&A!! That makes a movie. And if you liked Heather Graham's nude scenes in Boogie Nights, From Hell, and some other movies she's done you'll love the boobie shots here. And the sex scene, it goes up there with Showgirls infamous pool scene, which also is from the MGM/U.A. studios. Hey all I can say is if you're a perv, you'll enjoy this flick!!

This is my new favorite movie! (...) I actaully caught it on Showtime one night, and was mesmerized by the storyline. It was unpredictable, the characters were interesting, and I couldn't stop watching. In fact, I stayed up until 1 am the next morning to watch it again. I'm even considering buying the DVD for a friend. See this movie. It won't disappoint.
