From Amazon.com

Things have gone ridiculously well for Coldplay in the three years since 2002's A Rush of Blood To The Head. The group's global album sales have soared past the 10-million mark, putting it in the same stratosphere as U2 and the Dave Matthews Band. People have offered up their bank accounts, cars and even bodies for tickets to its shows. And, in a nice twist, front man Chris Martin married Gwyneth Paltrow, setting the tabloid world aflame. Funny thing, then, that the British quartet's much-anticipated third album, X&Y, is all about keeping its feet on the ground. In the powerful opener "Square One," the singer insists people are fundamentally the same no matter their stature. "You just want/ Somebody listening to what you say," he sings. On "Fix You," Martin grapples with imperfection and missed opportunity: "When you love someone but it goes to waste/ Could it be worse?" Meanwhile, the vibrant first single, "Speed of Sound," is all about reconnecting with the spirit and soul in the face of the paparazzo's flashbulbs. Musically, the band has never sounded more adventurous, referencing everyone from Kraftwerk ("Talk") to the Pogues ("Swallowed In The Sea"), all the while sweeping aside those Radiohead-lite comparisons to embrace a massive, moving sound that makes simplicity seem sublime. --Aidin Vaziri

5.0étoiles sur 5 Best Coldplay album to date., Jui 2 2005
Par D. Milligan "stephmilligan" (Quebec, Canada) - Voir tous mes commentaires
(REAL NAME)
This much anticipated album does not disapoint. Coldplay delivers another album with 13 awesome tracks. With rap music taking over the airwaves, Coldplay reminds us just what real music is with X&Y. If you liked their first single, Speed of Sound, you'll love evey other song. White Shadows has a much more upbeat tune, much like Clocks off their second album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Fix You and A Message are very mellow with the use of the accoustic guitar, while Speed Of Sound and The Hardest Part rely on the use of the piano. With Chris Martin's smooth voice bringing everything together, Coldplay can do no wrong. Although the piano is not present as much as in previous Coldplay albums, the sound is still overall better than Parachutes or A Rush Of Blood To The Head. No cd collection or iPod will be complete without this album.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Nothing Needed Fixing On This Album, Jui 8 2005
"Fix You" is right now my favourite song by Coldplay... Musically... not their best album... but lyrically... it may give Rush of Blood to the head a challenge... here are my ratings

Square One: 4.5/5 - some pretty risky notes sung by Chris Martin, lots of energy, good start to the album

What If: 5/5 - if you liked songs like "Everything's Not Lost", "The Scientist"... this maybe your favourite song on the album

White Shadows: 3.5/5 - a song i might have to grow into, but still a decent track... it took me a while to really like "Shiver"... so give this track some time...

Fix You: 500000000/5 - this song blew my mind... when i heard it on "The O.C." I automatically fell in love with it... maybe the most touching song they've ever written... in my oppinion of course... put this one on REPEAT!!!

Talk: 4/5 - a little boring... but very easy to listen to... not a standout track...

X&Y: 4.5/5 - nice start... the 1st minute or so is quite addictive... the rest may need some time to grow into as well...

Speed Of Sound: 5/5 - The next Clocks? Maybe not. But still an awesome song, good for n e time of the day...

A Message: 5/5 - A clash of The Beatles meets U2, an excellent song... could relate to a lot of you people out there...

Low: 3/5 - possibly one of the weaker tracks on the album... very forgettable...

The Hardest Part: 4/5 - OK... nuff said

Swallowed In The Sea: 5/5 - maybe it's just my taste... i like the soft and sentimental songs by Coldplay... Chris Martin is just brilliant... he can honestly sing anything and make it incredible...

Twisted Logic: 4/5 - listenable... i'll like it eventually

'Til Kingdom Come: 5/5 - R.I.P. Johnny Cash... i would of loved to hear Mr. Cash sing this song... but I guess Chris Martin will do...

i hope my review has been of help... BUY THIS ALBUM NOWWWW!!!

3.0étoiles sur 5 not bad, not great, Jui 15 2005
Par Un client
I agree with the customer from georgetown. the album is all about what chris can do with his voice. That's not a bad thing, but for all the hype this album has, his voice is not sufficient. I prefer a rush of blood to the head better. At least i am not entirely disappointed or against this album. it is listenable and I still find that coldplay is a band that is truly in it for making music and they do a fine job of that.
