Product Description

From Amazon.com

For haters eager to see Kanye hit a sophomore slump--no such luck. Late Registration can't replicate the novelty of last year's College Dropout, but otherwise, this is an impressively more mature and labored-over album. Lyrically, Kanye's only improved a notch but musically, the album sounds incredible, especially with co-producer Jon Brion helping polish the songs to perfection. Tracks like "Heard 'Em Say" (featuring Maroon 5's Adam Levine) and "Hey Mama," are richly textured in their soulfulness while the flint-edge of "Crack Music" and "Gone" (feat. Cam'ron) will appeal to the street-oriented. There's a few duds on here--the sickly-sweet, syrupy "Bring Me Down" (feat. Brandy) being one of the worst offenders--but when the album's good, it's very, very good. In short, Kanye's detractors may not be swayed in their resistance to his charms but not only will his past supporters be rewarded but Late Registration has enough appeal to earn new crowds of fans. --Oliver Wang

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply GREAT, Nov 14 2005
Powerful, funny, spiritual, and makes you want to dance.
That's pretty much all any CD needs to do for me.
(no wonder Eminem "retired")

4.0 out of 5 stars Racial, Nov 8 2005
By Trevor (Toronto) - See all my reviews
That Waltz guy has a point. It gets tiring when people use race as an excuse. However, racism still exists, which is stupid.

Favourite songs: addiction, heard em say

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute pure lyrical, producer GENIUS. JEANIUS LEVEL MUZIK, Oct 4 2005
Yo, right here is the REALEST HIP HOP OUT THERE. You people that go out and buy 50 Cent DON'T EVEN KNOW REAL HIP HOP. G-UNIT AIN'T EVEN ABOUT THE MUSIC, IT'S ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE, THE CLOTHING, THE SNEAKERS, AND SO ON. LYRICALLY, NONE OF THE G-UNIT ARTIST CAN TOUCH KANYE ON THE LYRICS OR THE BEAT.

This is a sick sick sick album. I have the College Dropout and listened to that CD like mad. I STILL listen to it. With such a great album, I was kind of worried that Kanye would cool down on the 2nd album. BUT IT WAS HOT FIRE!!!! THE TRACKS JUST POP OFF MAN, TOO SICK. THIS IS THE HIP HOP ALBUM OF THE YEAR AGAIN. REAL HIP HOP. Kanye is helping to bridge the gap that hip hop has created with other types of music. He got Adam Levine of Maroon 5 for the Heard 'Em Say track and it is BLAZIN. He got Nas, who a lot of people thought would collab with Kanye because of Nas' beef with Jay-Z, but the "We Major" track with Kanye and Really Doe iz PURE FIRE. I MEAN BLAZIN. THIS IS THE BEST HIP HOP SONG OF THE YEAR MAN EVEN IF IT DON'T GET NO RADIO AIR TIME. IT'S TOO SICK. 6 stars out 5. KANYE, YOU REALLY KEEP THE ROC ALIVE. KEEP DOING YOUR THING MAN.

And another thing for people who think Kanye is not hip hop. If you listened to his mixtapes (the 2 big ones "I'm Good" and "Get Well Soon") you will see he's worked with the biggest names in hip hop: Eminem, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Ludacris, JAY-Z, Nas, Scarface, Busta Rhymes, Diddy, (new album Feb. 2006),Alicia Keys, John Legend, Beyoncé and a load of others.

SO BEFORE YOU PEOPLE GO OUT AND DISS KANYE. KEEP 4 THINGS IN MIND. 1) 3 GRAMMYS. THE MAN GOT TALENT. 2) HE'S THE MOST RESPECTED PRODUCER IN HIP-HOP AND NOW THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER. 3)HE'S REVOLUTIONIZED HIP HOP 4)HE'S PROVEN HIMSELF ON THE UNDERGROUND MIXTAPE CIRCUIT. I'M PRETTY SURE HALF THE PEOPLE WHO SAY KANYE AIN'T REAL RAP DON'T KNOW ABOUT HIS MIXTAPES OR KNOW ABOUT THE UNDERGROUND MIXTAPE CIRCUIT SCENE. SO GO EDUCATE YOURSELVES FOLKS BEFORE YOU MAKE THESE CRAZY ACCUSATIONS
