What does a wildly successful purveyor of ‘80s big hair power ballads do in an ensuing decade dominated by fervent shoe-gazing and other attendant alt.cliches? If you’re Jon Bon Jovi, you scale back your band’s ambitions, retool yourself as surprisingly accomplished indie film and TV actor, and (mostly) wait for the pop music tides to turn in your favor again. But JBJ and guitarist/collaborator Richie Sambora didn’t let their band’s lukewarm ‘90s fortunes dampen their knack for hook-savvy songcraft, as this muscular anthem-fest argues at virtually every turn. BJ’s songs here may be as infectious as ever, yet they’re seldom mere confections, often infused with alternating doses of bracing cynicism (the title track’s sarcastic riposte to the ’04 election) and reflective, often bittersweet takes on histories both personal and otherwise. If it sometimes stoops to formula--the droning, metallic ethos of the obligatory big ballad "I Am" can’t overcome some equally perfunctory lyrics–it’s also an album with its share of warm surprises, be they unexpected nods to Dylan ("Last Man Standing," the acoustic idealism of "Bells of Freedom"), the hard-edged "I Want to Live" or a winning duet with Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles, "Who Says You Can’t Go Home." Bon Jovi may deliver a sonically burnished triumph here by largely going back to the future--yet does it with one ear crucially cocked towards the anxious energy of the recent past. -- Jerry McCulley

As many Bon Jovi fans know, Jon's voice is not what it used to be. That being said, he can still sing very well and has a "reinvented" voice on all albums Crush onward. One thing about the "new" records is that they were a departure from straight up rocknroll - Crush was good. Bounce was 100% garbage (some good songs but overall a bad album). Have a Nice Day is a straight pop rock album complete with good clear riffs and good solos from Richie. Crush and Bounce suffered from too much production - this album is driven by the guitar. This is their best recent album.

HAVE A NICE DAY continues the winning formula for Bon Jovi. Bon Jovi first broke into the music industry with Slippery When Wet- which is one of the best metal albums of all-time. Have a nice day- the lead single was an improvement from the previous effort, Bounce and Have a nice day is much like It's My Life and Livin' On A Prayer. Who Says you can't go home is a pop/country song. Welcome to Wherever you are is a great ballad and it's about being who you are. I want to be loved is much like a song from the Goo Goo Dolls. Bells of Freedom and Story of life are great songs.

Have a nice day is a great album and let's hope that the next Bon Jovi will be just as powerful.

THIS IS THE BEST ALBUM I'VE LISTENED TO IN YEARS. IT'S DIVERSE, YOU MAY NOT LIKE ONE SONG, BUT LIKE THE NEXT. HAVE A NICE DAY :)

Personnellement je trouve que cet album est excellent. Bien sûr ce n'est pas le Bon Jovi des années 80, mais c'est très bon quand même. Le jeu de guitare est magnifique. Read more
