There are those who will tell you that Il Divo, the multinational quartet of sharp-dressed crooners, synthesize Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion to concoct something worse. And they will not be entirely incorrect. Yet it's hard to argue with a sensation that has entrenched itself so deeply so fast, and a first spin of Ancora makes it harder still: while predictable selections like "I Believe in You," a duet with Celine, and "You Raise Me Up," a Spanish-sung Josh Groban retread, ratchet up the treacle, the foreign-language tracks that are truly foreign lend this foursome enough Euro mystique to redeem them. Particularly melt-worthy is "Poor Que Tu M'aimes Encore," the closer. Singing in tongues, on the face of it, sounds like a bad idea. Album Description

2005 studio album that reflects the multi-national character of the group; the songs are not all sung in English, but drift between Spanish, English and Italian. However they are worded, all use the emotional Esperanto of love. The group's debut album, IL Divo hit the #1 slot on both Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.com after a breakout career-defining appearance on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" (April 5, 2005) where the quartet performed its interpretation of Toni Braxton's ‘Unbreak My Heart (‘Regressa A Mi’). Highlights on Ancora include 'Isabel' a duet with Celine Dion and IL Divo's cover of Mariah Carey's 'Hero'. Two of the tracks on this CD ‘O Holy Night’ and ‘Ave Maria’ appear on the 2005 US only release, Christmas Collection. Sony. 2005.

wonderful voices, beautiful songs, what a way to lie back and take in the ambiance of sound. This is such a great CD for those of you who want to get away from the stresses of the day, close your eyes and enjoy!

I own all 3 Il Divo CD's and the Dual Disc also and have ordered the new DVD Encore from here. The music of this group is outstanding and roughly over 95% of the fans were attracted to the music before focusing on their classic good looks. Each one, Carlos, David, Sébastien, and Urs have a very deep passion for their music and for wanting it presented to their audience/fans in the best possible mannor. They arrange their own music plugging in a voice because it sounds best there, not because of competition. They have developed their own "Il Divo" style and the music touches your heart and soul releasing you from the stress of the everyday hussle and bussle. They sing in English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Latin and on the new Ancora CD have done an outstanding duet with Celine Dion..."I Believe In You" It will not only leave you breathless,but give you hope also. Their fans are very important to them and they sing to us, not at us. They make time for us and even visit us on the Il Divo Forum when time permits. I highly recomend all of their music and it just gets better and better.

I have not seen anything like Il Divo before, they have very different and amazing voices that are pleasant to hear. Good choice of songs, music, and unique style. They can sing in Italian, French ,English and Spanish and they all sing well. I would not be able to choose a favorite song, because I can say that I like all of the songs in this CD. Ancora, has an essence of tranquility and romance. Once you play it you become addicted to it. Although some might not like the idea of them singing in foreign languages,it is that diversity that makes them distinct. I truly recommend this CD, especially the following songs: Heroe,Isabel,Essisti Dentro Me,Ave Maria,and Pour que tu m'aimes Encore.
