3.0 out of 5 stars A good way to retrain your brain, Feb 15 2010

I found out about this book in an article from Woman's Day or Good Housekeeping. I had checked out the book from the library and found out it was a six week long period for the book, so I decided to purchase it instead. First off, this is NOT a diet book. It is a side note to a diet or healthful eating. The advice is sound. Cognative therapy is one of the best ways to retrain your brain on food. It gives you small steps each way. Some may be harder to do than others, but you keep doing it step by step. I'm still only on Day 8, but the book says to take things in your own time, but so far, a lot of the ideas of worked. I've enjoyed reading it because she constantly encourages you and says, no one is perfect. And no one is.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cognitive Therapy Works for Weight Loss, Feb 27 2011
By K. Briggs "doll_kat" - Published on Amazon.com
This is not a quick fix diet. Its a completely different approach to dieting and weight maintenance, using cognitive therapy to address the issues that keep us from losing weight.

I came across this book while looking for a diet recommended by a friend. It looking more interesting than the one recommended so I borrowed it from the library. After a week I knew that I needed to own the book so I ordered it from Amazon. This was nearly 3 years ago.

I followed the book step by step, using Weight Watchers as my food plan. I lost nearly 30 pounds in about 6 months and have kept it off ever since. When I find myself slipping up (and I do slip from time to time) I am able to revisit the issue and the strategies I need to stay successful.

Like I said, not a quick fix. Its all about changing the way you think, then your actions, and adopting not only a healthier lifestyle but a healthier way of thinking for the rest of your life.
