This is the first music game that I ever bought, so I bought the bundle with all the instruments. I have read that the "Special Value Edition" was sold with instruments of the previous generation (i.e. Rock Band 1) which didn't have all the features of the new generation (i.e. Rock Band 2). I have therefore bought the "Premium Bundle" to ensure that I could use the instruments with future releases.

The game itself is so much fun. The one thing I really want to highlight is that the difficulty settings make it possible for anyone, even younger kids (6+ years old), to play the game. Each player chooses individually his/her difficulty setting, so beginners can play with more experienced players.

I can't help from being a little disappointed by the fact that some of the Beatles greatest hits were not integrated in the game. "Let it be" and "Hey Jude" comes to my mind; probably the only two songs I might have been able to sing while playing the guitar at the same time as you cannot really look at the words when you play the guitar. Not that I didn't expected this as there are so many Beatles songs. But I find comfort in the fact that I will be able to try singing "With a little help from friends" while playing the drums (if Ringo can do it, I can do it). The manual states that you can buy more songs on the Wii web store, but my Wii is not connected to the internet so I cannot provide feedback on the additional titles that may be available.

Buyers Beware: I have found out after the fact that the Wii guitar and drum set sold with the Beatles Rock Band Premium Bundle are not compatible with Guitar Hero Wii games (the same applies for any guitar or drum set sold for Wii Rock Bank; this issue is not specific to the Beatles instruments). In other words, no Metallica for me unless I buy another guitar... This is even more disappointing when you know that the same instruments for the Xbox and the Playstation are compatible with all other game franchises on their consoles. This is the first time I felt that Nintendo has let me down from a technology perspective.

One last note on the subject of compatibility: the compatibility issue mentioned above is not true the other way around. Apparently (and I have not tried this) the Guitar/Band Hero Wii instruments work with Rock Band games. All the details are available on the web if you google "Rock Band instrument compatibility".

I grew up listening to Beatles music, so I was singing along with the game from day one! Don't need the words across the screen, just a mic in front of my face. And face rhymes with BASS, and therein lies my treat! I am crazy for bass guitar in this game, and I very much appreciate that Beatles Rockband allows you to view your bass scores right along with guitar scores. Other Rockband games (and Guitar Hero for that matter) tend to minimise the importance of the bass by neglecting to make your top scores available with a click between coloured buttons in the Quickplay mode.

Love the graphics. In fact, sometimes I find myself messing up in a song just because I get distracted by the gorgeous videos that play in the background. I love watching others play, so I can sit back awhile and enjoy the animations!

You get a lot with Beatles Rockband. The disc is full of earnable pictures and skill accomplishments, old film footage, the chance to post your scores online, and now that the downloadable content has begun, we can look forward to filling our libraries! Rubber Soul and Sgt Pepper will both be done up by and available by the end of the year. So far, you can only complete the Abbey Road collection - I understand each of the other two albums mentioned will be available on the 20th of November and then the 20th of December - in which order I am not sure.

The songs are divided into albums/venues/timelines, so you get the guys in different clothes and with different looks. It really adds to the immersion factor.

This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!
