Synopsis

Edward James Olmos directs this feature-length drama that tells the story of the Peabody-winning series -- from the perspective of the Cylons. Battlestar Galactica: The Plan finds man's creations plotting to destroy their makers, but when their genocidal scheme leaves survivors. Now, two Cylons must try to eliminate the remnants of humanity, while Adama (Olmos) and his fleet struggle to survive. From the nuclear devastation that began the miniseries to Sharon's (Grace Park) attempt to kill her commander, all the show's biggest moments are seen from the enemy's point of view. The film also stars Tricia Helfer, Michael Hogan, Dean Stockwell, Michael Trucco, and Aaron Douglas. ~ All Movie Guide

Again, reflecting many people's posts here, I am a big BSG fan too.

Was I dying to see The Plan? You betcha.

Was I happy with the thing? Frak no.

The whole thing can be reduced to one single word really: useless. Utterly, completely, amazingly useless.

It is pretty much a collection of flashbacks tied together. Especially the first hour. And unlike everything else in the series, it actually is very, very boring. Not only because we know what happens, but simply because of the way it is edited. Its pace is horrible, and so unlike any other episode of the show. It really is very Un-BSG.

It does present more of the Cylon perspective about the whole deal, but that does not make it any deeper....it just shows you that.

Sad. I'd say "stay away", but I know you won't, because if you are a BSG fan, you will make yourself watch this. And you will suffer.
But hey, I know, we're only human! ;)

I was under the impression I was going to see an 1:45 minutes of events leading to the attack. Like maybe how every cylon inserted society 2, 3 years before and made their way to their designated post in preparation of the attack. But no, this movie is just a recapitulation of what happens from a few days before to day 289 or something after the attack. It it composed of new meaningless scene insert between scenes taken from the series. Like a big recap finally. It brings nothing new to the Galatica universe, except they try to makes us believe the Chaplain knew everyone, even the final five (he talks to them when they are asleep in a resurrection chamber!!) and somewhere this doesn't fit with what happened in the series. I hate when they come back and they show us a character that knew everything all along and he played dumb to hide it. It is such a waste of time and your money. Man, I love Battlestar Galactica so much, I would not hesitate to have its name tattooed on my chest. But I must admit the 2 part series finale and this movie are the most let down I ever had in all my TV Experience

I am a HUGE BSG fan - totally loved the series. LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! This, however, was clearly an attempt to squeeze fans for extra cash - there is no substance - ZERO!!! - to this disappointing production.

Short of WARNING - SPOILERS!!!! giving us some history of the human-looking Cylons (although there was nothing new here with respect to Tory or D'Annah - their characters are overlooked in this - perhaps so the producers can cobble together ANOTHER money grab??) the only thing of interest may have been Simon's marriage (he'd married a human and had a step-daughter) and how Boomer struggled to fulfill her so-called duty as a Cylon - her "mission" to blow up Galactica and assassinate Bill Adama. Why they'd want us to spend so much time with John Cavil is beyond me - especially when the other Cylons were a helluva lot more provocative.

There is no real story here - a look at snippets of human-looking Cylon action we didn't see throughout the series so we could see their side of what was happening - but this totally fell flat. Really, really disappointed. If you really want to check this, RENT IT. Save yourself $15+ and rent the silly thing before you buy!!! To the people who made the decision to release this on DVD? Good luck in getting a time slot on TV next year! This is so bad, I'd be really surprised to learn this ever airs at all! What a way to FRACK your fans!
