4.0 étoiles sur 5 A Hit with our Infant Twins!, Feb. 26 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
Both twins have been enjoying this toy since they were about 4.5 months old and we started putting them in the highchairs for short periods of time. Sticks fairly well, and they seem to be interested in it.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Does not stick!, Feb. 26 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
Fairly useless, because it doesn't stick. I like the "sassy" fascination one much better. Although, my infant twins do seem interested in the toy even though it doesn't stick, it's rather big and heavy and is hard plastic. They've conked themselves on the head with it more than once, so we don't really use it.

We had this one for our older son. Now using it again since we had twins. Liked it so much we bought a second so that each twin has one. Our older son (3.5) is still using the booster that comes with this.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 True to Title - They are Quick & Easy (and quite good)!, Feb. 26 2014
We've had this book for about 3 weeks now. We are quite happy with it. We are always looking for quick, easy, fairly basic ideas for family cooking. We have a 3.5 year old and infant twins, and not a lot of time to fuss around. But we do like to have decent, sit-down family meals. I find the recipes to be decent in terms of nutrition as well - not a lot of truly awful fattening stuff in here. It's not a healthy cooking book, but it is OK in that regard. Our 3.5 year old has eaten every entrée we've made for dinner, quite happily. My husband and I have enjoyed it as well. I would recommend for busy, working families who aren't too fussed about cooking but are trying to get a decent meal on the table several times per week.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Favourite of Many We Bought, Jan. 2 2013
I was determined to do all homemade baby food for my son, and so I purchased several babyfood books. This was one of our favourites.

I am puzzled by the one somewhat negative review, saying the recipes were one-dimensional and only for starters. The book progresses through complexity and age of little one, in order that you can progress with your cooking as your baby matures. My little one ate these recipes until well after one year old, by which time we were using the more complex, heavy stews, etc. His favourite was a rice, bean, cheese, yogurt concoction, the name of which escapes me at the momemt. So easy to make, and I swear the kid ate ten pounds a week of that stuff!

I would make large batches of most of the recipes, and then freeze in ice-cube trays. When meal-time came along, I would just pop out some cubes, heat in microwave, and it was so quick and easy.

I also liked the detailed nuritional info too, which helped me to make sure his diet was balanced and high fat/high calorie (he was a small baby and we were always trying to fatten him up, and I'll tell you it worked with this book). My husband made many of the recipes as well, and this was his favourite book too.

Honestly, I was sad when our son finally grew out of baby food!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great resource, especially for first time parents, Dec 31 2010
Bought this before our baby arrived (first baby). I found it helped me get the detail I was looking for. I am the kind of person that really likes to read and to read up on things in advance. I wanted to be somewhat knowledgeable going into my labour and delivery and this book was exactly what I was looking for. It helped me feel somewhat prepared (as prepared as a first time mom could ever be!), and assisted me in making some decisions about what kind of birth plan I would prefer. Obviously you can't really "plan" your labour, but you can have some say in your preferences, hopes and wishes, So you aren't just clueless and at the mercy of whatever hospital staff happen to be on shift when you deliver, and this helped me sort that out. This would also be a good book if your spouse or partner wants to read up on labour and how to assist mom. An excellent book!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Good but not great, Dec 31 2010
I bought this book along with The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding during my pregnancy. I preferred The Womanly Art a LOT more. This book has good info and I believe Newman is very well-respected and knows what he's talking about, BUT...the book isn't as well written stylistically, is less accessible and user friendly, and large portions of it are devoted to why breastfeeding is so much better than formula and why formula is evil. I already was convinced that breastfeeding was better, that's why I was buying books on the topic. I didn't need a constant diatribe on the evils of formula (I don't believe it's evil anyway). All in all this book was OK, but I don't think it comes even close to being as good as The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding. If you can only get one, get that one instead.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Highly recommended!, Dec 31 2010
As a first time mom, I knew I wanted to breastfeed, but didn't know anything about it I wanted to be sure I educated myself so that I had a certain comfort level and confidence, since I had heard breastfeeding is not always easy for all women, especially at first. I thought this book was EXCELLENT. Clearly written and organized, and up to date. All the information you need! I also bought Jack Newman's book, but found this one to be much better organized and easier to read. One note: this book is very pro-attachment parenting, including emphasizing co-sleeping and baby wearing, etc. Some of this stuff was not necessarily a good fit for me, but I think regardless of your parenting style this book will be very helpful. My baby slept in his crib in his own room from day one, but I still loved this book and urge every woman who plans to breastfeed to buy it. Worth every penny!

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Not a fan!, Dec 31 2010
I didn't like this book at all. First of all, I could not stand the condescending tone. I agree with just about everything in the review by JD. The book is not breastfeeding friendly in my view. Also I found this concept of eat, then small bit of activity, then spend rest of time sleeping to be totally unrealistic and unachievable with my baby, who is a colicky baby with tons of energy who doesn't want to spend three quarters of his time sleeping. My 10 week old does NOT take 5 naps a day and then sleep huge stretches at night, nor in my view is that realistic. I found the book rather ridiculous and unhelpful. I would not recommend it. The only sensible thing about it is the general idea that one should strive to build a predictable routine for baby. But that's just common sense. Skip this one!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Not really a sleep training book, but interesting, Dec 31 2010
I enjoyed reading this book; lots of very interesting information on child development during different periods, and then how that might tie in to sleeping and sleep training. But just a note of caution: this is not, in itself, a sleep training book or guide. It tells you about development and when to work on sleep skills, but not much info on HOW. I would suggest to parents to buy this book first. It will provide helpful info and is very readable. It discusses a bit about each of the various sleep training methods out there. Once you've read it, then I think you'd be in a really good position to decide which sleep training book or books you might want to purchase, and when. For example, I've decided to wait until my baby is 5.5 months to do any sleep training. Overall, I would certainly recommend this book!
