Lack of Reviews? Hmmm...., May 5 2004
The Shadow lurks, unpopular as ever. In the spiritual scene, great emphasis is placed upon spiritual experiences and rhetoric abounds, however, how many are actually willing to engage the problematic shadow as it obstructs our true progress? People who have been involved with a teacher or group can go for years without looking at their chief weakness, or shadow, and when it rears it's ugly gargoyle face they may end up leaving the Work, or projecting much of their own negativities onto the path, or their Teacher. This is an excelleant book! It looks closely at the Shadow and it's various ways of manifesting along different stages of the way. The author builds a solid foundation for his exposition by starting with an examination of psychoanalytic notions of the ego, in the works of Freud, Jung, Reich and Miller, and progresses to notions of ego in different spiritual traditions. It is a useful fusing of psychology and spirituality that illuminates and reminds us as to what the nature of the spiritual path is about. Where Ken Wilber proposes "orienting generalizations" in his developmental scheme from birth to transpersonal existance, Fedorshak gets into the more specific gritty details of the contours of the gradations of the path and the pitfalls of shadow encounters in individuals, as well it's manifestations in groups, spiritual communities and spiritual teachers. This is a much neglected area of crucial concern to all of us seriously concerned with soul making and desiring spiritual help from others, as well as the issus arising when considering spiritual communities and teachers. A book to be studied seriously.

You are in for a veritible feast with this heavy tome. A look at the life of Indian Saint Yogi Ramsuratkumar. 800+ pages, excellent writing, phenomenal read. I devoured it. You'll find out about a rare, precious holy, crazy-wise, fool beggar, that will leave you blessed and grateful. In a world full of charlatans he was and IS the Real Deal. Jai Yogi Ramsuratkumar!

Crazy Wisdom, Holy Madness, Jan 13 2004
Cheeses Rice! It always astounds me how critical, stupid and cruel sub-people can be when faced with a work of art that the artist wrung blood out of his heart for. Nick Tosches passion is Dante, he's Italian and he's from the street. That alone makes this novel something to look into. An Italian die-hard music lover, who writes about Dante, the mob, cabalah, Faulkner, Eros and Thanatos... what more could you want?! Mr. Nick Tosches tells it like he see's it. Full of himself? What a joke! This book is absolutely great. I read books day in and day out and THIS book is phenomenal. It is a funny, profound, poetic, full of feeling, trashy, bigoted, crude, violent, scathingly honest, proudly politically incorrect, no-nonsense, with warts and roses, laughing, praying, and cursing from the gutter all the way up through illimitablness, crazy freakin' book! It is street-wise spiritual wisdom for those who have ears to hear and the stomach for it and you might learn something, like how to Pray(those who dissed this work of art, should start learning soon). Read it, re-read and go out and buy all his other books -you'll have youreself a new favorite author. Deus thumbs up on one hand clapping with loaded dice!

Disappointed, Dec 19 2003
I was excited to get this soundtrack becuase I love the music in the movie. That said, I must say, that when I began to listen to the c.d. I thought something was wrong with it. Who ever thought it cool to add that sound, of a running car in the background was way off base - it sounds awful(and left me feeling ripped off). Also, the production is just plain poor. The poetry reading, the bits from the movie, all have a tape recorded quality. And again, with that annoying running car sound, the soundtrack often sounds like we are listening to someone listening to the soundtrack while driving in a car and that, in turn, was recorded on a tape recorder. What gives?!! Neil's music stands on it's own and some bonehead loused it up! You'll have to work hard to get past all that crappy production to appreciate the haunting, awesome atmosphere of one of Neil's most artistic forays. I wouldn't buy it if I were you. You'd do better to record it straight off of the dvd, it would be less irritating.

Excellent, Reverent ,Book, Nov 8 2003
I totally disagree with the reviewer who claims Zukav's book is symptomatic of Western arrogance. It is obvious to me where Zukav is coming from. He nowhere is being pretentious, or reinventing the wheel. He is simply bringing to bear his insights from his studies in science on the more ancient esoteric spiritul teachings. The fact that he uses terms such as Karma bear witness to his indebtedness to past wisdom. He frequently mentions our precursors in wisdom, such as, Buddha, Jesus, Krishna, Ghandi etc. His presentation is to be applauded because it simplifies and jettisons cultural and, mythological baggage and distills this wisdom into clear, straight talk that is deceptively simple. If you read this book with an open mind and heart it cannot help but touch you and aid you on your path, whatever that path may be. Who cares about how Oprah received Zucav? -the point is how do you receive his kind efforts, which are genuine and altruistic. This other reviewer's complaints are entirely judgemental and symptomatic of the very limitations of normal five-sensory consciousness that Zuckav is addressing . I have a feeling this judgemental orientation is what this reviewer needs to look at, and is itself the barrier that occludes his/her own ability to gently consider this very helpful tome. These complaints seem to me a huge missing of the mark. Read this book and benefit! It provides much nourishment and clarity with regards to a subject that is often hoplessly too muddled. Clarity leads to power!!

Whoa!!!, Oct 2 2003
Whoa!! I am SHOCKED that no one has reviewed this one. This CD is simply incredible! T.T.D. has certanly found his voice and MATURED in a big way as a song writer/artist. EVERY SINGLE SONG ON THIS ONE IS A CLASSIC!!! This guy is like the Marvin Gaye of our era and I would go as far as to say that he has surpassed Seal in talent(my other fave, sorry Seal, but Terence got some dynamic lungs!). Terence voice is so versitile and soulful, I really can't say enough. On the first track his voice is so incredible that it sounds like two diferent distinct voices at times. This guy is the man, period. I could go on and on and explain why, but unless you listen to it, you can't know! I am sure if more people heard this, this would be a definite Grammy and would catapult Mr. D'arby to titanic fame status. Buy it own it, and listen in awe.
