Pope Francis has his finger on the pulse of the Church. In the Joy of the Gospel he begins by describing evangelism as a joy, but then demonstrates his understanding of many of the contemporary issues that today's Christians face, some of the challenges that the Church faces, and offers ways to move forward to boldly proclaim the gospel as Spirit-filled evangelisers. Throughout, he demonstrate his particular love and solidarity for the poor.

The salvation of Christ is for all, there is no exclusivity. Pope Francis invites all to share the hope and joy that he has as a devout Christian and missionary disciple.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Good Christian Game, Nov. 9 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is probably one of the best Christian board games out. It has all the concepts of living the Christian life included: prayer, dealing with sin, and scripture. It is well designed and the graphics used are good.

The game is very simple to play. It's just rolling a die and moving on a board, which may not appeal to some because of there being too much luck involved and little strategy. However this also makes it suitable for all ages. We vary the rules a bit to make it more realistic. Instead of throwing one die to avoid a major sin, we throw 3 instead and sum the result. The thinking behind this is that your typical Christian doesn't have problems overcoming major sins like murder.

This is a good fun game. If you want the chance to become canonised in your own lifetime that is possible with this game!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Good story but poorly edited, Sept. 18 2013
The story-telling itself is good, but there are some obvious flaws in the editing that make you wonder whether this was proof-read before being sent to the publishers. Here are some that I've found so far:
Chapter 14: "Roupen and I went to inquire of the way ahead." Then a few paragraphs later it's Padraig who accompanied him: "Padraig and I walked back to the boat." (Also note that American spellings of words are used throughout, which may put off readers in other english-speaking countries.)

The Prologue to Part 2 takes place in "Paphos, Cyprus" where "A wintry gale was blowing cold off the North Sea." If Lawhead had checked an atlas he would have discovered that Cyprus is actually in the Mediterranean, a very long way from the North Sea so unlikely to be affected by its wintry gales.

He also occasionally makes some bizarre out of the blue digs at the Roman Catholic Church of the time that are totally unrelated to the narrative. These don't seem to serve any purpose apart from expressing the author's own personal feelings.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Heart warming and fun, March 4 2013
This review is from: Spook (Paperback)
This was my favourite book as a child. I must have been about 9 years old when I read it. I enjoyed it so much that I set about rewriting it as a play to act out with my friends and siblings. It starts out with this uneasy relationship between a witch and her familiar, who is a dog rather than a more traditional cat. She must abide him, whilst he is frightened of her and longs for something more. The story unfolds and shows how the power of love can overcome fears and the most frightening evils.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 The best bible, Feb. 26 2013
Anyone can have a go at writing a bible, but for a bible to be truly the Word of God it must have an Imprimatur and Nihil obstat that show that theologians have examined it carefully and found that it is free from doctrinal error, that is, it is in accordance with the correct interpretation of Scriptures as believed in by Christians. This is one of the bibles that has the Imprimatur and Nihil obstat.

It is also written in a way that is easy to read and understand in today's English. Finally another consideration is whether an English bible is written in the American spelling of words or not. This one is not, but is written in the form of English used by most of the rest of the English-speaking world, that is the English spoken in the United Kingdom, Ireland, India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, Nigeria, etc.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Good Dr. Who, Feb. 12 2012
These are the final episodes with David Tennant as the Doctor. You should watch these before watching Series 5. These episodes come between Series 4 and Series 5. All of these specials are excellent and the final two-part story involving the Doctor and the Master is the climax, before the Doctor regenerates.
