4.0 étoiles sur 5 A Game That Gets A Lot Of Abuse, Dec 24 2008
Amusant:4.0 étoiles sur 5
This review is from: Orphen (Video Game)
Like the title says, Orphen:Scion Of Sorcery gets a lot of abuse for no good reason. Sure it's one of the first games for PS2 so it isn't perfect, but there are a lot worse games out there.

Graphically, Orphen still looks pretty good. The character models still look very, very good for a 9 year old game, but the environments are showing there age,They look a little bland. The camera can be a pain to move around in tight spots but nothing major.

For cut-scenes, the game uses a mix of the in-game graphics engine (Witch again is pretty darn good) And a healthy mix of anime scenes (there is a lot more anime scenes than in-game ones-+1 point for Orphen)

The gameplay isn't half bad either, it's a little different (in fact I have not seen any other game do this for a long time, if at all) You basically have to hit the enime at the right time or be hit, but you also have to block at the right time or get hit. The bosses all move in a pattern so it may take more than 1 try to time everything just right. (I think this is one reason why people flame it so bad)

The story isn't too bad either, You really have to like anime to enjoy the story otherwise you will most likely just loose interest in the game within a few hours. There is also a lot more story telling than actual gameplay, again not a problem for me but might be for others. (the last reason why Orphen gets slammed)

All in all this game is very good, If you have not played it yet, go and get yourself a copy! There not hard to find, but nor are they easy if you plan to go to EB or Gamestop But they do pop up a lot for under 10 dollars. Or they are easily had anywhere on the net from $5-$10 complete. This game is the perfect thing to experience what the PS2 was like in its younger days :)

5.0 étoiles sur 5 A Heads up for PS3 Owners, Dec 6 2008

This review is from: Final Fantasy VIII (Video Game)
While I will not be doing a review on this game, I'd thought I'd give ps3 owners a heads up about some of the minor problems they will encounter when playing ff8 (the PS3 im using is a 60GB model)

Disc 1- Only Problem is the battle screen instead of just being white it is mostly black with just a bit of white

Disc 2-Same as disc one, but get a little better near the middle of the disc, and the start of missile base is a little wacky (the vehicle textures get mixed in with the wall textures on the outside, but inside is fine.

Disc 3 black battle screen only appears on the world map everywhere else is normal (possible little black spots here and there) But once you get to the space ship near the middle of the disc all menu sounds are messed up, and black screen is still there in places.

Disc 4 Crummy menu sounds come and go (they weren't there on my 60GB, but on friends 80GB they came and went) And black screen is pretty much non-existent maybe a little bit here and there.

Over all middle of disc 3 is the worst. This does not effect gameplay or cut scenes or game music in anyway, these are minute, but worth mentioning...

Mortal Kombat, This title is a classic! I don't have too much to say on this so i'll get straight to the point (as most of you all know what MK is like)

The Graphics: The character models are pretty darn sweet (some of the best on GG) But backgrounds are very simple.

Game Play: Due to the small screen size of the game gear, Fighting felt a wee bit cramped. I also noticed it felt a touch on the slow side. But maybe i'm being to hard on it.

Extras: Well I think there are a few easter eggs here, but the only one I know of is the blood cheat.

Final Thought:The only other thing I have to say is this is a classic title. Even tho I didn't enjoy it very much. Others might. Definite pick up if you love MK or want to relive your childhood.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 My Personal Favorite, Nov. 20 2008

This review is from: Ace Combat Zero (Video Game)
Like the top says this one is my favorite Ace combat for PS2. There is some story in the game, it pretty good but nothing anybody hasn't read before. The plan models are nicely done, the terrain is simplistic but gets the job done.

There is a lot to do in the game, and there is a lot of replay value here. You have to collect all the medals, unlock all levels, and shoot all the important people down! :).

A couple of things that stop this title from getting a 5 star is:

No online :'( It would have been very cool at the time to have it.

The A.I. for your wing man is a total retard who does nothing more than get in the way (he doesn't even use his throttle, just flies around like nothing is going on, even when you tell him to attack)

But overall this game is excellent, cheap buy.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 An Oldie, But A Goodie, Nov. 16 2008
Amusant:5.0 étoiles sur 5
Well I start my review by saying that I wish I could have got this when it was new!

But seriously now, this game was made in 2004, and its now '08 and for a game over 4 years old it has held up well! now with the actual review:

Way Of the samurai 2 is a 'choose your own adventure' type of game, in all there are 14 endings to get, and 60 weapons to find (some can only be taken from bosses!) You can choose to be a bad guy (by going with the yakuza) A good guy, neutral, or treat everyone as an enemy (Pro Tip:The latter wont get you such a good ending)

The graphics are very nice, especially on the character models (comparable to FFX)

Game play wise there is a bit to talk about, Like others have said what choices you make change what kind of person you are! The sword fights are cool for the 1st play through or so, but then get repetitive (parry counter, parry counter, parry counter. You get the idea)The game can take any were from 2-3 hours each play through (X that by 14 and its pretty lengthy) The only complaint I have is that its the same talking over...and over..and over...and the voice acting stinks :'(

Any way the review is getting kinda long so i'll wrap it up with a final note...

This game is getting old and as such is getting hard to find (out of print) It took me over a year to find a copy that wasn't missing a book, or the box art, or both (aka ex-movie rental game) And I noticed when you do find it its a little on the steep side (EB games had it used for $31.99-The same price now for 2+years)But I got lucky and found a mint copy after waiting sssooo long. This game gets a bad rap with game reviewers, but you must pick this game up (Even rent it if you can still find it at a movie rental store!)

4.0 étoiles sur 5 An A-Class Game!!!!, Nov. 1 2008
Amusant:5.0 étoiles sur 5
Well, I was browsing amazon a few days ago and game across this game, was highly considering getting it but the price was just crazy! So with a heavy heart I went to EB Games today (Gamestop for our U.S. friends) to look for something to play...Lo' and behold I found a used copy...for $24.99 I scooped it up and the Disc was BRAND NEW! I have been playing it for 4 hours and so far so good, The only thing that has disappointed me is there are no anime cut-scenes.

The graphics are all 2-d (Just like a lot of other NIS games) But sprites are nice a detailed and look really good.

I would not recommend this game for the young'uns in the family as there is a lot of swearing (about 50 or so times already in the 4 hours nothing major, should be fine for your 13+ kids as it is nothing they have not heard before -_0)

Like I said this game is very expensive and difficult to find (not impossible tho, just really hard!!, Just like working designs, and Atlus titles)

A Definite game to buy! Go on stop reading this and buy it!

UPDATE:Just beat the game 10 minutes ago(on Nov.8/08 10:53PM), and WOW! I have not enjoyed a game this much in a long time. Now im not going to spoil anything, But I recommend getting gigs bonus ending it is by far the best one!!

2.0 étoiles sur 5 Not A Game For Everyone, Oct. 28 2008
Amusant:2.0 étoiles sur 5
Oh dear, what to say about this game...The cover is really cool o_0 But seriously this game is geared toward a VERY specific group here. It is a dungeon crawler, and when you die, say goodbye to all your items, weapons etc.. Part of the game is to die in order to reveal more story. Not my favorite. Not recommended for newer gamers/those new to dungeon crawlers as this game will kick you down and laugh at you as your on the floor crying

3.0 étoiles sur 5 A Great Start For Those Who Wish To Experience RE, Oct. 12 2008
Amusant:4.0 étoiles sur 5
I think that this RE bundle is sweet, it has 2 of the best resident evils Code Veronica X (my favorite RE), Resident Evil 4 (my 2nd favorite)And Resident Evil Outbreak.

Now Graphically code veronica x is the weakest (and is also the oldest at 9 years, I was 8 when me and some friends crapped our selfs playing it! ahh good times) But the graphics are neither horrible nor incredible, there nice, it's pretty hard to describe. In 2nd place would be outbreak, and the best one graphically is RE4

What detracts from it getting an over-all 5 star would be outbreak. It is by far the worst RE, even tho its online, you only get a certain set of lines to talk to your bud. (ie:they only have a set of words they can use) And if you have a slim ps2, you cant play it because you need a HDD or be plagued, by slow loading times and lag during online play. And it's not even out break file 2. Shame on you Capcom.

I think they offered this bundle to get rid of excess stock in there warehouse LOL.

But what I like most about this bundle is that all the games are BLACK LABEL! not greatest hits versions. SWEET

Growlanser generations is AWSESOME, It comes with Growlanser 2&3. They are old school RPG's and are very fun. When you beat the games you get to unlock audio from out-takes from the game (some are hilarious!)

The only thing bad about this game is like with all working design games is it is very rare and hard to come by. So if you do find a copy you should definitely pick one up!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 A Great Hand held,With tons of games!, Oct. 12 2008
Amusant:5.0 étoiles sur 5
This review is from: Game Gear Sports Pack (Video Game)
The Sega Game Gear is an awesome hand held with a lot of games. A backlit color screen (something gameboy didn't have at the time) Ans some pretty neat accessories. However there are only 2 that I have, and hence I am going to recommend.

The 1st one is the Gear Master, It allows you to play ALL Sega Master System games,Witch Expands the GG's library to a respectable amount!

The 2nd one is the T.V. tuner, It's possibly the coolest thing made for the GG, Unfortunately, The T.V. Tuner will be for sentimental value only as T.V. is going digital only soon :'(

There are a few things stopping it from getting a overall 5 Star and here they are:

1.The thing takes 6 (yes 6) AA batteries, this can make for a hefty system, the worst part is that it eats them in 4-6 hours!

2.Weak capacitors, this is noticed by little, or weak sound form the speaker, they are easy to replace but still..

3. 2 Different models, one works with the t.v. tuner, one doesn't

Even tho, those are my reasons why the GG isn't a 5 star, it still get a 5 star for F U N. If you don't have one you should definitely pick one up!
