4.0 étoiles sur 5 Very overlooked band gets the collection they deserve, Aug. 20 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
Finally received my copy from .ca a week late but better late then never. The Dream Academy had one huge hit in the '80's "Life In A Northern Town" and a few smaller ones. The First record was co produced by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd and was solid from begging to end. The follow up "Remembrance Day" was good but not as solid as the first. They made a third record but again it was much weaker then the first one. They also had songs on several soundtracks so to collect you favorite tracks would be expensive and in some cases you would have to find out of print 12 inches. This collection is very close to being catalog killer (meaning you only need this not all their albums) however, in my opinion, this collection is missing a couple of great songs from the first record but you can't have everything. The mastering is good. A little compressed but not a member of the loudness war which seems to be the current way to remaster music.
So what you get is their hits, a couple of tracks from hard to find 12 inches and some unreleased tracks for those of us that have all the records. So if you like great Pop music (back when Pop was (sometimes) still great) you might want to check this out. For those of us that grew up in the '80's it will give you the warm and fuzzies.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent Follow Up To "War Of The Worlds"!, Aug. 4 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
This is an excellent film. If you are a fan of the original book you should love this. The story takes place 15 years after the first invasion and earth has developed wepons to battle the aliens this time. However the invasion happens at the dawn of World War 1. I will stop telling the story there due to the fact that I don't want to give the story away.
The animation is top notch and the vocal performances are better then most animated stories I see. A word of warning, this is not for kids. There is no swearing or nudity but the death scenes are pretty graphic. If you like animation and enjoy Sci Fi you might want to check this out. Or you can do what I did and I watched the trailer on YouTube first.
The way it ends I really hope there is a sequal!

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Good book as a companion piece to War Of The Worlds, July 31 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
This is a fun but brief read. This book is Basiclly a retelling of War Of The Worlds but from different peoples prospectives. It follows the story of the Thunder Child battleship and the story of a survivor thats story intertwines with the ship towards the end of the book.
I really enjoyed reading this as I am a huge fan of the original book. The only reason it's only getting three stars is because it just kind of ends. It does tell the whole story of the battleship but it does not tell you the end of the Alien's story. It hints at what happens in the end but instead it jumps to years later after the battle. You really have to read the original book to enjoy this, but if you have this book is a lot of fun.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Kiss at their heaviest ! Reveiw of Shm-CD, July 30 2014
Ce commentaire est de: Creatures of the Night (Audio CD)
Kiss's last Masterpeice and it's also their heaviest album to date. This is an 80's Metal album, no doubt about that with tracks like "I Love It Loud" and "War Machine" they hit their guitar soaked best. This album has Eric Car on drums and Ace Fraley left the band while making the record. He was replaced by Vinnie Vincent, but somehow made the cover anyway. On a personal note this was the first Kiss tour I saw.
I am reviewing the Shm CD version of this album. Where it does have a bit better sound then the domestic release it's only worth it at a low price. For 20 dollars it's worth it but at 40 I think I would let it pass. Fortunately their are several sellers selling this version around the $20 mark, I paid $22 for mine, so if you like a bit better sound and your a Kiss fan I would imagine you would be happy with this. If you are going to turn the tracks into MP3's stick with the current remaster.

This is a excellent DVD. It gives you a great overveiw of Mott thru interveiws and the odd bit of retro film. This band never got their "Born To Boogie" or "Ziggy Stardust the Morion Picture" so there is not much footage lying around. But They made good use of what little film they had.
This doc walks you thru an album at a time. Touching on all the studio LP's. The documentary it's self is very informative with some new info thrown in with the old.
I love music doc's and this is one of the better ones plus living here in Canada there are not any BBC doc's to fill in the holes in our Mott education. I never understood why groups like Mott, Slade and T Rex didn't really make it over here. All three put out excellent albums and 45's. That's why I was so happy to see this come out maybe it will help introduce some more people to the amazing sounds of Mott The Hoople".

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Excellent release from a Great Band!, July 23 2014
I ordered this from the Band's website and it exceeded all expectations. I have been a fan of this band for years but mainly the period with the original lead singer "Fish". I have tried a few times to get into the music from the second part of their career but it never clicked. I have a friend that is a die hard fan and I ended up ordering a copy with his. I LOVE THIS BLU RAY. Excellent show with excellent audio. It's shot very well to boot.
Here is the part that might get confusing. The version from the website is NTSC region free (not the region coding listed here). It also consists of three Blu rays. Two live shows plus a third disc with their last album in 5.1. So I don't know which version this is or how many discs (once again it's hard to buy something when you don't know what it is). This sells for roughly the same price on the bands website and at least from there you know it's the full Monty and properly region coded.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Great Set but bad sound, 3.5 out of 5., July 17 2014
Audio - Audience Cassette Tape
Performance - 8/10
Historical Importance - 8.5/10

These are the only shows the stooges did as a five piece and the band is on fire. The down side is the audio is really bad. Basically this was recorded on one of those cassette players from the '70's. You know the ones with the crappy little microphone and the big red record button that you had to push down at the same time as the play button. It's also before high end cassettes were around. So the sound is bad but the bands energy level is high and for the Stooges they were tight. It contains a few songs that did not make it to the three official albums out at the time. But each show has pretty well the same set.
Over all I love this set but I would have to rank it a 3.5 out of 5 stars because of the sound. But it comes in a very nice CD booklet case holding the four CD's and a booklet. Pretty well built. So the presentation is great.
This set is not for everyone but if you are a Stooges fan and you are familiar with some of the live boots that are out there you know what you are going to get. The bonus here is getting to the hear the Stooges like you never have before and sadly will never hear again.

After reading Amazon reviews it's pretty obvious this album Jethro Tull fans seem to love or hate. Even Ian Anderson does not seem sure about this record. However I have benn very impressed with the Albums that have been remastered to date so I took a shot. I love this record. The keyboard work reminds of Tony Banks from Genesis. The album has a very thick sound to it and it was not destroyed by today's mastering standards. This is not overly compressed. Once again Steven Wilson does a stellar job remixing and remastering this album.
As a major Progressive Rock fan (my tastes are all over the place. Whether it be Miles Davis, Opeth, Neil Young, David Bowie, etc.) I am loving this 5.1 reissue craze. When a mix is done right, like here, it's like hearing the song for the first time. Plus with the loudness wars going on it's the best way of getting a nice open mix with great separation. Don't get me wrong there are some really bad 5.1's out there but the od's of a good sounding remaster goes up when on this format.
In closing, the record itself is Tull at their Progressive rock peek so you might want to check out Auqualung or Thick As A Brick first. But if you like those this should put a smile on your face!

What a crash after "Welcome To My Nightmare". By this point in his career he had already become a solo act. By the date of this release Alice had made four classic albums with the Alice Cooper group and one great solo album "W.T.M.N" then he crashed and burned with this one. It had one hit single "I Never Cry" which is a ballad. It sounds like Alice did not know what to do next. This is the sound of an uninspired man.
Despite Alice having a successful carrer to this day he has never come close to matching those five records. However he is still great live.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Show 5 stars, Sound is 4 stars and 2 stars for being a bootleg version of an officially released title., July 8 2014
Do not by this if you have the live album "Iggy & Ziggy" it's the same show. But to tell you the truth I find the sound better on this version. You can hear Bowie a lot better. However if you have neither of these titles pick one up it's a great show!
