5.0 étoiles sur 5 One of the Allman's greats on SACD, Oct. 14 2014
Ce commentaire est de: Brothers & Sisters (Audio CD)
Beautiful sounding SACD. Nice warm bottom end and thick bass sound. Best version I have heard to date. It comes in a replica gatefold album jacket. If you have an SACD player this is the one to get. The box set was good for the live album but the remastered album was a little bright. Content wise this is just the straight record but it never sounded this good before. Worth the extra cash!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 One Of The Dead's Best!, Oct. 11 2014
This was the first tour I saw the Dead on and they were at the top of their game. Unfortunatly it was down hill from here. But this show is one of the best shows I have heard the band do. With Branford Marsalis joining them for this gig the band is smoking. It also has an amazing set list. If someone asked me where to start with the Dead this show might be it. On the Dead's website you can buy the whole tour in a box set. For those of us that can't afford $300 box sets this is a nice snap shot of what you would get. I love the Dead and would love to collect all their releases but there is just too many. So I have stuck to the Rhino releases and the odd website only title.
If you are into Trippy music with a trance quality to it you should love this. If you don't like this I would say the Grateful Dead are not for you, well at least the later years. As for me this will be getting played a lot.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Great Blu ray Audio for a near classic '80's record, Oct. 6 2014
Another dynamite Blu ray Audio release. In case you are not up to date these are AUDIO ONLY Blu ray releases. With current blue rays you can have a transfer rate of 192/24 bit. This According to the team that remastered the Beatles Catalog said these are so perfect sounding to the source you can't hear the difference. These are flat tranfers from the original 2 track masters. Some come with 5.1 mixes (this one does not). Some people think these Blu ray Audio's are too loud. Remember these are the two tracks the way they should be heard. If your CD's sound quiter or softer it was not the mix but the limitations of the red book (CD) source.
I am not a huge fan of '80's music, even though I grew up then, but this is a diamond. Great song writing, good production and over all good performance by the musicians.
If you like '80's music or just great songs ( that do suffer from a little of that '80's sound) you might want to check this out.

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Noah and the rock creatures. This is a comedy right?, Sept. 16 2014
This is possibly one of the stupidest films I have ever seen. Giant rock creatures that help Noah biuld the arc. Swords being thruster into the ground causing the ground to catch fire. I must have missed this version of Noah's arc in school. If you want a really good laugh get a bunch of freinds together, have a few drinks and you will be laughing so hard you will have tears rolling down your face. Well unless you bought it then those tears will be rolling down for another reason. If I could give this zero stars I would!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Godzilla 2014 Blu ray, Sept. 16 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
I saw this movie last summer and loved it. In the theater it was a little too dark but I can happily say that is not the case here. Yes the big battle is at night but I had no problem making anything out, well except for the scenes where it was designed to only reveal little glimpses of the the monsters. The audio is also amazing. I am a huge fan of Godzilla films, yes even the cheesy ones, but this film is second only to the original (Japanese version). I found the story well thought out and the film did not just rely on special effects. The director that did this film also did the film Monsters which was excellent. The reason he was picked (sorry can't remember his name) was because, as the producers said, "anyone can do CGI we wanted someone that could tell a story".
They have already green lighted a sequal but it's a few years off. First he is doing a Star Wars stand alone film (no not the J.J. Abrams one that continues the story with original characters but a one off in the Star wars universe). The next film is bringing back some of the classic Godzilla foes.
My only complant about this film was I think the MUTO's (the enemy) could have been designed better but that's a small complant.
If you like monster movies or great action films this is for you. If you think this type of film is beneath you just pass.
An FYI to people saying the film is too dark you might want adjust the levels on your TV. I have tried it on three different TV's and the picture was not too dark on any of them.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Killer Live Queen from '74!, Sept. 10 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
Excellent box set!! What you get (media wise). You get two full shows on CD and both sound great. You get the video in two formats. You get it on DVD and Blu ray. The Blu ray, where it has better audio, is only standard definition so it has it's limits. First it has black bars down the side and it is very dark at times. But it's a great show! This is Queen in the Heavy early days. The first CD covers the "Queen 2" tour and the second one from the "Sheer Heartattack" tour. This is also the concert you get on the Blu ray / DVD with a few bonus tracks from the first show. the video / audio portion of this set is a Queen's fan dream. True they don't have many hits at this point but that does not mean they are not playing great tunes. The first three records were much heavier then the albums they put out "A Night At The Opera" on. The 70's clothes they wear are a trip.
Over all I could not be happier with this set. The box set seems to be hard to find but you can by the Blu ray, DVD, CD's all separately. Either way you get what really counts and that's the music.
Come on '75 and '77 Blu rays because after all you can never have enough Queen!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Best H record to date!, Sept. 3 2014
This, in my opinion, is Marillion's best CD since the Fish years. Gaza alone is the best song they have done in ages and with the Proggy 18 minute running time it takes you on a epic telling of life on the Gaza strip. The playing, as always, is top notch. H's lyrics are some of his best. I had tickets to this tour but had to back out due to health reasons but really regret it after hearing this.
The second CD is a collection of Demo's, Radio Apperances and live tracks. It is worth the extra couple of bucks.
It's nice to see that there are still some great progressive rock records being made while everything else being made seems to be at a musical lul.
Worth the $20!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Opeth goes full out Prog., Aug. 26 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
This is a Prog. CD for sure. Gone are the really heavy guitars and bass and they have been replaced by more melodic playing. Don't get me wrong this does not sound like an Alan Parson's Project record but it does continue the journey started on the last album. No, as my friend calls them, Cookie Monster vocals just straight out singing.
As far as the whole album goes it's great. Full of great songs and playing. You can hear the influence Steven Wilson has had on the band.
The Blu ray with the 5.1 mix is great. A little lacking in bottom end but overall a great mix.
So if you love older Opeth you might not like this record but if you liked where they were going on the last record this would be worth checking out!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Best bang for your buck!, Aug. 26 2014
Excellent center channel. Nice clear audio and warm sounding music. For $500 I would be hard pressed to find something else this good. 8 oms only requiring 15 w to power the until. I had a Klipish and it was horrible, I will never buy their products again, but this one has very little if any draw backs the Klipish had. Kef is a good high end brand that now has product priced in the "normal" range. Meaning regular people can afford it. They are not cheap but doable.
If you want the best bang for your buck go no further. I did tons of research and this one always came out on top!

1.0 étoiles sur 5 Keep Looking!, Aug. 25 2014
Do not buy this speaker. First off it's been discontinued so it's an older model. It requires an amp with minimum 150 watts per channel. Most home systems are not 150 watts per channel. You can use it with an amp that is under 150 watts but you loose all kinds of sound from the bottom end. Plus any quite dialog during movies will require you to turn up the volume. However even with the right home entertainment system this speaker is in their word's bright (my words shrill). For the price there are much better speakers out there!
