5.0 étoiles sur 5 Velvets at their Mellow Best!, Jan. 25 2015
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
This is a great album. The first without John Cale and the first with Doug Yule. This album is a complete departure from the first two record. This record is mellow and has great song writting (well the writting on the first four records is excellent) and Reed puts a lot of emotion into his singing. The set it's self is great. You get six CD's. The first three are three different mixes the actual studio record. The fourth Disc is a collection of recordings from the '69 recording session. Discs five and six is an excellent two CD live record. Most of which has been unreleased. Sound quality is one of the better live recordings released to date. This all comes in a hard covered coffee table book (like the first two in this set).
If you are a Reed or Velvet fan these and the first two box sets are a must. Even if (like me) you have the "Peel Slowely And See" box set it is still worth gabbing these. The sound is better and you will get recording not covered in that set.
With Morrison and Reed now gone and any slim chance we had to see these guys live is gone it's nice to hear them in their youth putting out music that still is changing the face of music today!

Great DVD of what may end up being his last major world tour. I saw this show at the ACC on possibly what could have been the worset night of my life (don't worry not going into details) and it still was an amazing show. I have seen Bowie seven or eight times and this was the best show I have seen him do when it comes to giving a good career retrospective. He was also touring two of his strongest CD's he had done in over a decade. We even get surprises with tracks like Sister Midnight that he di Did on one of Iggy Pop's records. He is in good voice and his band was excellent. It's a long show running almost 2 1/2 hours. Great staging and perfect sound. If you want one Bowie live DVD this gives you your best band for your buck as far as hits go.
If you are a Bowie fan or just starting to check out Rock music this would be a good place to start. Bowie changes musical styles like most rock performers change guitar strings and this gives you a nice over Veiw of almost all of them.
I really hope we get to see Bowie live again but if we don't this is a good place to leave us!

Trent and Atticus do it again. This being their third soundtrack from the pair and it's just as good as the first two. This CD covers a range of emotions without the aid of different styles of music. What I mean by this is this CD is a minimal ambent recording (similar to some of Brian Eno work but not the same) where it's more tones as compaired to traditional song structure and even tho some segments are very relaxing it can also get very intense.
If you likes the first two I think it is safe to say that you will probably like this. If you are not fimilure with ambient music like Eno's, Fripp's or Vangeles's and you want to check it out this would be a good place to start.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 As Always The Band Rocks!, Dec 30 2014
The Band on what ended up being their last tour with the original line. Just a few months pryor to The Last Waltz but a very different show. No horns here, just the five peice but all at the top of their game. The CD it's self is not as polished as say Rock of Ages but the sound is still very good.
If you're a fan this is a no brainer. If you are just checking them out and want something live check out Rock Of Ages!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Journey at their best!!, Dec 30 2014

This really covers Journey at their peak. Containing all three of their classic records and two pretty solid ones you would be hard to find a better 80's pop release. This music is not for everyone there are lots of power ballads and some really bad lyrics but over all this is pop at it's finest. The first two albums are pre Jonathan Cain (he joined on escape) so they don't have all the hit singles but they have a couple. Cain and Perry along with Schon really gave Journey their 80's sound and between them wrote all the hits.but that is not to say drummer Steve Smith and bass player Ross Valerie had nothing to offer. They are easily one of the best rythem section in pop.
Don't let me use of the word Pop throw you off. The Beatles were pop. Pop just gets a bad name because the media uses it to describe acts like Justin Bebber and Britney Spears.
You can't go wrong with the price and odds are three of the CD's will be played a lot.
I know Journey is doing well with their new singer but I would love to see the escape lineup reunite but I think that is wishful thinking.

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Great show, so so sound, Dec 30 2014

Perfect live set from the Allman's. The only reason for the four stars is the sound quality. It's not bad but not the same level as the Filmore recordings (especially after the Blu ray audio version of the full Filmore set). But this is a great show. You get a few different songs and a nearly 45 minute version of Mountain Jam. This is also the Allman brothers before tragedy took it's toll and where the Allmans put out great records after losing Duane and Berry but this is the version of the band you want live recordings from. Greg is in great voice and the band is super tight.
Like I said it's not the Filmore but if you want more grab this. Besides now that they have retired it's the only way to hear them!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Supertramp in 24bit/192kHz Blu Ray Audio (Stereo), Dec 24 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
In my opinion Supertramps best record and hearing it on Blu ray audio is the way to hear it. This album has never sounded more full then this version (including Vinyl). This uncompressed master is the way the band wanted fans to hear it from day one. Not only is it full sounding it also has a depth and space that you now hear in the recording.
If you like Prog. or Classic Rock you need to check this album out. If you have a Blu ray player and home audio system this is the version to get! This will be getting played a lot!!!

Excellent rarities collection. It covers their entire carrer and has excellent sound. The first disc is mostly self penned songs from B sides and movie soundtracks. The second disc is covers and some of them are more interpretations not straight covers. The third and last disc is the weird stuff. Instrumentals, Ambient and some completely alternative versions of better known songs.
This was worth the wait! They did an excellent job getting this collection together.
Now will they ever put out a live Blu ray!

I am just now exploring Jethro Tull and have enjoyed the reissues so far. This album is not as strong as the reat of their catalog to this point but it's still a good album. It's a little on the short side clocking in at less then 40 minutes. The songs are good but it's starting to sound like Jethro Tull by numbers. The records leading up to this point each record has a direction to it and a flow to the records. This one feels like they just pulled in whatever they had. All the negativity aside this is a good album.
The Steven Wilson mix is perfect once again. Lots of options for play back whether it be the 5.1 or Stereo mixes they are all there. I also love that you get a flat transfer of the original stereo mix so you don't have to keep your old copies.
So over all I am happy with the product but if your new to Tull I would not suggest starting here. But Ian if you read these reviews keep the 5.1 remasters coming!

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Finally Springsteen Remasters!!, Nov. 22 2014
Achat vérifié(Quest-ce que cest?)
Finally remastered Springsteen! Best thing is there is not a dud album in the box. This covers Springsteen's glory days. Starting with the Dylan inspired "Greatings from..." and finishing at the 80's classic "Born In The USA". Every CD in this set sounds so much better then the original CD's. "Born To Run" and "Darkness..." we're remastered for box sets a few years ago but the rest this is their first time.
I cannot overstate how good these records are. Even "Born In The USA" that I heard a million times back in high school sounds fresh. But for me they are all gems. I would say "The River" sounds the most improved. The original release sounded a little thin.
If you love great song writing it's here in droves. I know a lot of people think of Springsteen as a flag waving American but that is not the case. Is he a proud American? Yes but songs like "Born In The USA" are not pro American songs but commentary on the real state of America for your average citizen and these songs are universal. Think of them as songs describing the break down of the illusion of the dreams and promises of youth.
Springsteen is truly one of the great artists of all time. He talks to you like a friend in his songs but never preaches. The music is always engaging whether it's the foot stomper "Hungry Heart" or the acoustic "Atlantic City" you will be pulled in by every note and word.
The box comes with all the CD's in mini LP sleeves and it has a book of photos and articals. It's a good deal for your money but as always with Springsteen it's about the music and the music is great. Can't wait for Vol. 2. Oh please let there be a volume two!
