Perfect, Nov 28 2012
For rewritable capability and editing just like on a hard drive. Can delete rename, add anytime, any data without a "burn" session. With a RAM capable drive like my Pioneer, doesn't need formatting, it's preformatted. But you can reformat if you want to waste time. DVD-RW discs formatted with Nero's INCD were nothing but trouble, with bad write sessions and spoiled discs. DVD-RAM has no trouble. But I can't speak for the capabilities of your system to handle it.

The best performances, Mar 16 2011
I'm fortunate to have all these recordings on Vinyl. These by Vienna and Maazel are the only ones I care to listen to. Sibelius' symphonies are fantastic. Seeing it was on CD, it was also something that should be owned. I give it 4 stars just because I know that there is loss of sound when digitizing. The sound is fine, but Decca does not have a cutting edge digital method, and it has the usual digital loss of bass and general resonance. This release is from 1991, when the industry was just starting to learn how to improve digital. Deutsche-Gramaphone have that problem licked. And HDCD encoded releases would also be fine, even without an HDCD player. Next might be Sony 20-bit mastering.

These are colored, Jan 19 2011
The description fails to say these are colored, not white. That would be cause for returning them. 10 sleeves each in 5 colors. I couldn't get Amazon interested in correcting the page.

Good buy., Jan 9 2011
I agree with the previous reviews. I plan to use this as a permanent storage device on the computer. Is there anything wrong with that idea? 29 GB at a good price (when it was $33). I guess a small device could be lost more easily. The plastic knob that moves the USB tip could break. Wouldn't that be the way.

The best submarine movie, May 9 2010
Let's stop holding back on the reviews. Never mind the "tension and drama with the by-the-book captain". This movie is for war action and it delivers better than any other sub movie. It has depth charge attack, airplane strafing, torpedo attack, all in a well-crafted combination. This is during the trip to the destination. The assignment at the island is a smaller section at the end, well done too. Great color, 2.35 wide-screen. I've seen a TV version cropped to 16:9, which is not bad either. The TV editions turned out ~5-15 minutes shorter, and I don't know how much of that is from speeding up the film.

Good early collection, Aug 10 2007
This is aimed at the British market, consisting of songs that weren't released there in the early 50s. There's some overlap with American collections. There are a few from the London label of 1949-51, but the "Original Sound of Miss Music..." has more. This CD has "Longing For You", which some people missed on that one. Then it has Coral label songs of 1951-1954. There are serious songs, lively and novelty, and some duets. There's an obscure London 1951 song "If You Want Some Lovin", which Teresa chose to rerecord on the 1962 Philips label Greatest Hits LP. I now have both and they are a delight. These songs are taken from old 78s, there were no tapes then. "Remastered" is a misused term here. Quality is very good.

New recordings of classic rock., Jan 12 2006
There's confusion about this release. Amazon has the photo and label correct, but the date and track list all wrong. This is a 1992 release with 12 songs, not a reissue of the 1986 collection for which Amazon lists the tracks. It's not bad for rerecordings. Includes title, Sweet Nothins, Right or Wrong, Rave on... The title has probably been used for several compilations.

A pot of gold., Jan 12 2006
Al is best known for his hit instrumentals "The Magnificent Seven" and "Bonanza". He had a large number of albums in the 60's in a pop vein. This CD picks out the items which are must-haves from that period, mainly from singles which are not easy or impossible to find on albums. The point of it all is the strong lead guitar style similar to Duane Eddy, and full exciting orchestral arrangements. If you like Magnif.Seven you'll be similarly excited by High Chapparal, Return of M.Seven, Scalphunters. Don't miss it if you can afford it. This is not a bland pop album. Where else ya gonna find this? One thing it misses is his amazing single of Ring Of Fire (the Johnny Cash song).

Best solo hits collection., Jan 7 2006
This appears to be the best collection in the catalog right now covering her solo hits. Only a few of the best duets are included. Starts with So Long Babe in 1965 and ends with Hook and Ladder in 1971. Boots sounds pretty good in mono here. But it also shows how digital loses much of the resonance and impact of the original analog master. For some reason Friday's Child is not the hit version, and is hardly half as good. Lady Bird and Summer Wine are two of the best Hazlewood duets. We're kind of short of solo hit collections on the market now.

Best collection of Wanda rockabilly, Jan 4 2006
You should grab any collection that has her three Party songs. Without all it's not complete. And 30 tracks too. There's a Party Going On and Man We Had a Party are from her 1960 LP "There's a P.G.On", which was filled with only rock songs, and is a candidate for reissue, I suggest. It's terrifically scarce because it had no hit, L.H.a Party not being on it. This CD includes her lost 1960 non-hit Riot In Cell Block 9, which we can finally hear. Other songs that totally tear the house down are Long Tall Sally, Rip It Up, Mean Mean Man, Tongue-Tied. The CD takes from the above LP, "Rockin With Wanda", and other LPs that mixed country and rock. Buy it and have a riot.
