4.0 étoiles sur 5 Sword and Sorcery the way it should be!, June 11 2013
Very enjoyable action movie with a touch of horror. Solomon Kane doesn't closely follow the original stories, but gets the genera right. Much worse movies have been made with twice the budget. This one didn't get a proper release in Canada, buy the disc, maybe enough sales will help get a sequel.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Great entertainment, April 25 2012
Knowing the books, I figured the movie would be good. There are some changes from the book, but most of them are ok. Apparently the telepathic control of animals was cut out so it wouldn't seem too much like Avatar. Too bad as the John Carter stories did this almost 100 years before Avatar. Great effects, lots of interesting aliens and good action. Only real complaint is that Mars could have looked a bit more alien to match the creatures.

3.0 étoiles sur 5 Good adaption, deserves more credit, Nov. 24 2011
More faithful to the character than the Arnold movies, not as good as the original stories. I did enjoy this violent romp, however it didn't make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up even once as any adaption of Robert E. Howard material should. The movie seemed to be trying to please fans of the books, the comics and the original movie with influences from all. Jason Mamoa plays the part well and is a more believable Conan than if they cast an oversize bodybuilder. The sand mummy scene is great, probably the highlight of the film. Far worse movies have done a lot better at the box office, this once deserves more credit than it's been given. The crappy 3D didn't help, I look forward to watching it in 2D.
