Play Piano in a Flash - Book, Jan 26 2013
Complimentary to the DVD set. If you have the DVDs, you probably don't need the book. I have both, but didn't find anything particularly new in the book.

FEDS Soundtrack, Jan 26 2013
The movie definitely wasn't an academy award winner, but I still liked it. The FBI never was involved in developing the story line, so you can take to story with a grain of salt. The music, on the other hand, was a good compliment to the movie. On top of that, I happen to like soundtracks.

Biography About Amelia Earhart, Jan 26 2013
I was always fascinated by this disappearance. The likelihood is very high that the plane crashed into the water and is simply too deep to be found. This doesn't stop people from trying to find the wreckage. I prefer it as an unsolved mystery. If they ever do verify that it was simply a water-ditching, the magic escapes..

Piano Guy Fake Book from Scott Houston, Jan 26 2013
I have never understood where "fake book" comes from when describing this sheet music. It is also known as "lead sheet music" and it differs from regular music because it doesn't have both the treble clef and base clef. Lead music gives you the right hand melody (treble clef) and states the desired chord for the left hand (equivalent of the base clef). It gets you up to speed quicker once you learn the chords. In any event it is another way to learn to play the piano. I am learning both methods. Scott Houston's method is quite acceptable, but I also want to learn traditional piano from standard sheet music. I would recommend viewing his PBS special (DVD) as an intro to "lead sheet music" before acquring this "fake book".

Online Gift Card, Jan 26 2013
What a neat concept. There's no wait to produce a respectable gift card on your printer at home. Worked like a charm!

Lead Sheet Piano Playing, Oct 29 2012
This DVD is the actual program that appeared on PBS. That was where I saw it many years ago. Scott is a professional piano player and is passing on his tips and tricks to getting anyone up-to-speed playing the piano fast. I find his technique very helpful to a point, but despite his claim that you are either a piano player that is interested in his "in a flash" techniques versus being a concert pianist, he is wrong. For me, I liken it to either learning to drive from a relative versus learning in a structured environment from a driving school. The "learn from a relative" method is less expensive and cuts to the chase quicker, but I find structured training that takes a bit longer and you come out with a more well-rounded capability is my personal preference. To that end, I am doing both; I am taking traditional piano lessons because I do want to be able to read sheet music. However, his short-cut techniques are also worthy of note. He certainly is not attacking traditional piano training, but he is introducing people who wouldn't otherwise go through classical training to an amazingly versatile instrument. He is a pretty good speaker and is an excellent teacher. If you want to cut-to-the-chase quickly, his methods are top-notch. He decodes the mystery of chords and how major and minor chords are put together. Lead sheet music capitalizes on chords; the left-hand plays the chord and the right hand plays the melody. If you still want to learn traditional piano, go for it as well. I still found this DVD entertaining and learned lots of things that augment my traditional piano training.

Home Inspection Book, April 6 2012
This book breaks down the process of home inspection into easy components that anyone can understand. While it is written by a home inspector for other home inspectors, it is also a useful checklist that a home seller or home buyer could use before actually entering into an agreement to purchase. Your biggest issue with any home is water infiltration either through leaks, poor grading around the foundation wall or condensation. After that you're concerned with structural integrity and issues that can cause your house to burn down. Safety and health items like missing ground fault circuit interrupters near water or missing handrails/guard rails are important especially where there are small children in the house. I felt Rex Cauldwell's treatment of the subject was very thorough and methodical. For me it is a reference manual among many in my library as I am a home inspector. For non-home inspectors, I think there's still lots of useful information contained within.

Waiting, Sep 28 2011
I would classify this as the makings of a cult classic. Ryan Reynolds was superb and the supporting cast were awesome. Anyone who has seen this film and decides to return a steak to be re-cooked might want to take notice. The revenge of the cooking staff is many levels worse than what was seen on Road Trip. The "challenge game" all the staff participate in is pretty funny as well. I can't really explain it better without getting censored. This film is very funny and I had never heard of it before until a friend had seen it and recommended I look at it. I wasn't disappointed. The difference between extraordinary and ordinary is just that little "extra". Too funny!! How "Walmart-esque"!! Avoid "Still Waiting"...the sequel. It was a total dud!

Pleasantville, Sep 28 2011
This is another weird film that is totally irresistible. The concept of traveling through one's TV set into a 1950s sitcom where everything is black & white is kind of neat to say the least. The presence of the "strangers" causes those in Pleasantville to start assessing their existence in a town that only has a ring road; you can't get out of town because there's nothing beyond it. The film also encourages the viewer to consider if a "Pleasantville" really is something to wish for. It seems like it should be a good idea where everyone is pleasant to each other, but too much predictability can be a bad thing. When laws are enacted about being "Pleasant" you know you're in for an interesting ride. I enjoyed it immensely and would put it on the same pegging as Back to the Future, Mr. Destiny and The Truman Show.

Banacek TV Series, Sep 28 2011
This is one of these "flash from the past" TV series that I couldn't resist when it came out on DVD. George Peppard was an excellent choice for the lead role and his character's handling of the bozos who couldn't get past the fact that he was Polish was particularly entertaining. Each episode actually had a seemingly impossible puzzle to solve as part of the plot. My purchase of the DVD was more about going back to my enjoyment watching it when it first came out.
