I had the wonderful opportunity to first view this film on Masterpiece Theater on PBS. Based on one of George Eliot's lesser-known novels, this film serves as a fascinating interpretation of Victorian England. Not only will viewers attain valuable insight about the treatment of Jews during that particular time period, but they will also become acquainted with the profound, three-dimensional characters who inhabit a society where women are expected to marry respectable gentlemen who possess a strong financial status.
Despite its title, the film mainly focuses on the very different lives of Daniel Deronda and Gwendolen Harleth. Its opening scene takes place at a gambling casino, and that is the perfect symbol for the remainder of the plot. We see Gwendolen taking risks and sacrificing her happiness and liberty through her marriage to the devious and heartless, yet wealthy, Grancourt. In a similar fashion, Daniel Deronda risks his financially stable livelihood in order to uncover his past and fulfill his true ambitions.
I highly recommend this film (and the book) to anyone who enjoys good movies where characters are constantly faced with obstacles and have to rely on themselves to make moral choices.

This is indeed a fabulous collection of the earlier Simpsons episodes, most of which feature Bart misbehaving (such as "Bart vs. Thanksgiving" and "Bart Gets an F"). After Bart ruins Thanksgiving for his family, he impulsively runs away and ends up in a homeless shelter. In "Bart Gets an F," it is critical for Bart to pass his history test in order to be promoted to the fifth grade. A Halloween special is also included, along with the political episode where Mr. Burns gets involved in an electoral campaign. Watching these episodes is a true delight for any fan.

This is a hilariously entertaining set of videos that center around the Halloween specials, such as "The Shinning." This is where Homer turns crazy when he discovers that television and beer are unavailable at the creepy hotel. Other classic episodes are included, which are guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.

Not only do you receive an entire collection of ten cds for a phenomenal value, but you get the best classical music ever composed. These are songs that have been featured in widely popular films, including Apocalypse Now, which brought fame to Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries. This will make a priceless gift for any lover of the cinema or of classical music. All of the songs that are included range from a variety of eras. In addition, famous composers from Mozart to Strauss make an appearance in this musical collection. These songs will remind you of the great movies that you've seen.

When it comes to Vivaldi's works, the majority of people usually tend to associate him solely with composing the Four Seasons. However, this particular cd will introduce classical music lovers to other music that he composed for various stringed instruments, including the violin and cello. It does include a section from Winter of the Four Seasons, but the rest is other music that some may not be too familiar with. For a low price, you'll be getting a great selection of music.

From the haunting music of the Moonlight Sonata, to the sweet sounds of the Adagio Cantabile from the Pathetique Sonata, this is truly a treasure to own. Pieces in this cd range from those solely composed for the piano to those written for an entire orchestra. The popular Fur Elise is also included, and this is one cd that will not disappoint. Play it during any time. The music sounds terrific. THis cd is evidence that illustrates why Beethoven remains a popular name in the world of classical music.

This is another great cd with hit tunes and hilarious dialogue taken directly from a variety of episodes. The cd is contains an illustration of a donut, Homer's favorite food. AFter an extended version of the theme song, there are many familiar tunes. Here are some examples of the songs included: The Itchy and Scratchy, the Stonecutters' amusing song and Senor Burns, played by Tito Puente and his jazz ensemble (which appeared on the episode entitled "Who Shot Mr. Burns?"). THere are also several versions of the closing credits song, played by a variety of bands. If you own the other two cds, purchase this one. It contains thirty-nine tunes.

For those of you who are still trying to purchase tickets for the theatrical version of this film, I highly recommend ordering this comic and classic movie by the talented Mel Brooks. Mostel stars as the Broadway producer named Bialystock, who decides to embark on a financial scheme along with his new pal, Leo Bloom. They agree to raise the money necessary to put on a Broadway production that will surely fail, and then run off with the rest of the money. They just didn't expect their musical to be a success. A brilliant screenplay along with a talented cast will guarantee to keep you laughing throughout the entire film.

This is another great and entertaining cd, where America's most dysfunctional family on television is now singing the blues. Although it does contain as many songs as the other 2 Simspons cds do, the songs are still hilarious to listen to. The first tune, "Do the Bartman," is a funny piece. If you enjoy seeing this show on tv, then don't miss out on this cd that makes a true collector's item.
