I seriously LOVE this album...it's everything great from my 80s youth AND Men Without Hats. I really didn't appreciate this band until I accidentally stole (honest) my friend's copy of Pop Goes the World in '92. I adore that album start to finish and I adore Love in the Age of War, too. My favorites are too many to list, actually, and there's not even one that stands out more to be at the top. MAYBE Head Above Water or Girl with the Silicon Eyes. Hard to say, LOVE it. Love that they went retro with the synths, too. (Can you tell I like it, lol)
ONLY slight and totally liveable letdown was that I bought the hard-copy vs the iTunes download because I wanted the credits, etc - more detail, whatever else would be included. NADA! :( But again, I can live with that.
Essentially if you love MWH, you should love this album. It's so unabashedly 80s (to me) in all the best ways. Enjoy!
OMG I was so worried I would not like this CD. I'm 2 tracks in and I'm almost in tears! What I love about him the most is the way his voice touches, no GRABS my soul. What could highlight that more than him singing songs he truly loves, with just orchestral instruments?! It turns out, nothing. It's beautiful. He's beautiful. If you love Peter Gabriel's voice and interpretation of music - you will love this CD. He just can't fail, it seems. Thank you Peter!
Okay, it's not as beloved to me as 'Speak for Yourself', but it's great. Full of Imogen-isms, both musically and lyrically. If you love her, you'll love it. Glad to have pre-ordered it and had it hot off the presses. Imogen Heap deserves even more accolades and popularity - she's a Diva of Inspiration. I, for one, am making it a heartfelt wish to co-write with her! Order this CD and enjoy.
