3.0 étoiles sur 5 Where's the "inside" dirt?, Nov 6 2007
The biggest selling point for me regarding this book was the fact that it was written by people very close to Sabbath. I expected a lot of 'insider' information and stories you wouldn't find anywhere else. There is a great deal of this type of thing contained in the book, but I have a strong feeling that the authors' closeness to the band is actually what prevented them from giving us the REAL insider 'dirt'. Being close friends of the band members means they have no interest in giving us a "warts and all" biography. They make no attempt to show the band members in any negative light, and fans of Black Sabbath know that there are certainly unflattering tales that could be told about the goings on in the band. This is a wonderful book that any Sabbath fan will enjoy, but it just feels like it could have contained so much more.

5.0 étoiles sur 5 Where is the justice?, Nov 6 2007
For anyone who knows anything about the Kurt Cobain murder theory, there has long been ample evidence that his death MUST be re-examined by the Seattle Police Department. There are far too many inconsistencies in the official story, and this book does an excellent job of convincing the reader that Cobain did not commit suicide. Personally, I've been convinced for a very long time that the suicide story just doesn't add up and after reading this book I feel that stronger than ever. Any fan of Cobain and Nirvana needs to read this. Stay away from any book authorized or approved by Courtney Love; this one is NOT authorized or approved by her, and it offers very compelling evidence implicating her in the murder plot.

The Seattle Police should be absolutely ashamed. As this book clearly shows, professional pride on their part has thus far allowed the murderer of one of rock's all time great talents to escape justice. Read this book and be outraged!

4.0 étoiles sur 5 Very entertaining... and disturbing, May 28 2006

I hate to use this analogy, but this documentary is like a car wreck... it's disturbing but you can't look away. GG Allin was probably the most disturbed "entertainer" you'll ever see. His concerts and spoken word performances usually ended with him naked, covered in his own feces, engaged in fist-fights with members of the audience. The most shocking aspect of this film is that it's all true. As shocking as it seems at times, none of the people in this documentary are actors. GG Allin, his band, his fans, even his former teachers and friends, there's just something creepy about ALL of them.

Although Allin will never be remembered fondly by most (he died during the making of this documentary), he was hard to ignore. This documentary is highly recommended, although you may feel the need to shower after watching it.

Mike O'Neill is, in my opinion, a genius. You may or may not be familiar with his former band, The Inbreds, which created some of the finest alt/pop (for lack of a better term) songs of the 90's with a very minimalist bass & drums approach. On this album, which is O'Neill's first full post-Inbreds' release, we find a more traditional rock sound with a full 4 piece band and songs that are as sweet and catchy as ever. Having been released on the small Halifax indie label Perimeter Records, the album didn't receive much in the way of support. This is unfortunate, because it's a classic. O'Neill wears his Paul McCartney influence on his sleeve, and indeed several of these songs sound as if the immortal Macca himself could have writtem them during his creative heydays of the 60's and 70's. The melodies are immediately memorable and the production leaves nothing to be desired. The only complaint I have about this album is that it isn't mentioned in the same breath as other classics like Pet Sounds and Band On The Run, which is to say that IT SHOULD BE. It's a masterpiece. If you haven't discovered Mike O'Neill yet, you're missing out on a great talent.

From the opening crunch of "Thumb" onward, this album takes the listener on a sonic journey through a cosmic soundscape. Had Black Sabbath formed in 1990, this would be the album they'd make. Kyuss was the finest heavy metal band of the early 90s and it's a shame that most fans didn't discover them until after they broke up, because had they gotten the support they deserved, who knows what kind of magic they would have made. This CD is a masterpiece and a great place to begin your Kyuss odyssey. This is the true masterwork of the 'stoner rock' genre.
