This book was given to me by a friend. Having studied graphic design for many years, I receive many books such as this from friends. However, none of the graphic design books I have on my shelves are near as lovely as this piece of art. Each page of this book seems as if months were spent on that page layout alone. The dedication and passion behind this graphics is alone worth the cover price. What Buchanan has done with this visual lexicon is simply this, she has broken down graphic art into it's purest forms. Then, she shows us lovely examples of each form in some spreads. For example, she has a "minimal chapter" that sums up on two pages what took me three years to finally learn. This book is a masterpiece, and if you are looking for a lovely book that shows you the different art forms that make up the many sides of graphic arts, this is both your starting place and finish line.
