Great for warranty period but not any longer.

I purchased this kettle 14 months ago. Since then it has been used a maximum of 3 times a day (usually less) for cups of tea. When I rec'd it I loved it but the love affair is over. Approximately two weeks ago the IQ part of the kettle started having continual problems. Until then, every time I pushed the start button it lit up red -- as it should -- and did a great job. Now the button is red only momentarily and changes to white (doesn't do anything when start button is white). I have discovered that if I press the Start button and press again when it goes white and go through that process over and over again it eventually stays red and boils the water. To be fair I haven't called the company but will do so on Monday. However, I'm not optimistic. Given that the warranty expired on April 14, 2015 -- one year after the purchase -- I suspect I'm out of luck. I expect a LOT more after paying $160 for a kettle.
