Fantastic game, shrouded in drama.

Okay, the PS3 version of this game has so much drama around it because it's "a bad port". Which after I beat this game on the PS3 fail to understand how anyone who's actually played the PS3 version can say that. I just have to assume that people who've not played it are the ones saying it. Given that this is easily one of the best games I have ever played. The way I see it, is that there is no way you can miss out on this game if you only own a PS3 just because it has more loading and is less polished. There are screen tearing issues, but you only notice if you actually look for it. Load times when the menu appears, but it's 2 seconds. And slow down in one area, where it doesn't affect the gameplay. [it slows down due to many platforms swirling around a large area]
The gameplay is very smooth. You can string together some amazing combos once you get the hang of things. You can equip 2 sets of weapons to interchange during combos for even more variety. Each set a and b, have 2 weapons in it. One kind of weapon set to Bayonetta's feet the other to her hands. Some weapons are exclusive to her hands, like the swords. If you dodge an attack right before it would have hit you, you enter witch time [excluding some instances, like certain bosses] and this slows down time. In the case of enemies on fire, it allows you to physically attack them without taking damage. It also plays into some of the puzzles in the game. Later on you can buy an ability which lets you use witchtime if you get hit as well, you simply press the dodge button R2 right when you get hit. You transform into bats and avoid damage and go into witch time. which allows you to not be perfect. Accessories can also allow you to go into witch time when you get hit every time.
There's 2 modes for any beginner to easily pick up Bayonetta and play it. Very Easy and Easy. Each of these difficulties is part of the 'automatic mode' which allows less skilled players a chance to kick some butt with simply pressing one button. The option to use more than that is still there, but it makes it a lot easier for those who need it. So it's an accessible game for those who worry about difficulty. I personally found it quite challenging on just the normal setting.
The story is wacky and not to be taken seriously. If you go in with any seriousness, you're going to not like the characters or story. [like all Platinum Games/Clover Studios games really]. I personally enjoyed the story. I found it was different and that made it interesting to me. The music is love/hate. I personally loved it. It's a nice change of pace from other games. It has the epic boss music and the funky jazzy music.
This game is fantastic and really should be enjoyed by anyone who's interested in it. Regardless of platform, I think Bayonetta is one of the best games ever created. Especially in it's genre.
