Does this include extended edition or not? After being scr3w3d over on the first release and waiting such an unreasonable amount of time for it to finally be released to the public on 3D I am not willing to jump on the band wagon this time. If this release does not include both the extended and the regular releases in 3D and 2D I for one will not be going for it. And I would suggest that everyone else teach the studios a lesson by following suit.

Stop faking us out with basic releases when there are more full releases in the works!

Please note that my rating of 2 stars is not for the release itself but for the lack of info on this release (3D Blu-Ray + Blu-Ray +DVD) and not letting us know exactly what version(s) of the movie are on it.

Carl.

Avatar in blue ray is worthwhile. The problem I had was that the DVD kept cutting out. Very difficult to follow story. The extra DVDs makes it a great purchase. To actually show how it was made. Great cinematographic s...P.S. Amazon refunded my money no question ask and I got to keep all DVD"s.

Too dark, too many shadows. Characters and location almost impossible to distingwish.
That DBD was purely a waste of money.. Hans H Mueller

Good movie but I really dislike it when people put stickers on the case and it becomes very sticky.

The same Blu Ray is $25 US on the US site but $35 C on the Canadian site! When the currencies are almost at par, why $10 C more expensive in Canada?

Don't get me wrong: I'm a huge fan of Avatar and of James Cameron. But I'm also someone who paid over $30 for the "special" DVD edition of The Abyss... a non-anamorphic edition that looks like garbage on my new big-screen TV. I learned my lesson.

So, I'm not telling anyone else what to do, but I would like to tell Fox and the other movie studios that there's at least one fan out here who would have bought this Blu-ray in an instant, had it been priced under $20.

Our family of three paid a total of $52.50, not counting bus fare and popcorn, to see Avatar in IMAX 3D. The movie has now made... how many billions of dollars? And Blu-ray discs cost how much to press -- a buck or two? All I'm saying is, do the math.

I know a lot of people (especially those in the movie business) will say: just look at what you're getting for $30!! Well, that kind of thinking is getting really old. What we're getting is a royal screwing, as we pay for the same content over and over and over. Look at the world through the other end of the telescope for a change. Why doesn't my cinema ticket stub get me a discount on the disc? Why isn't there an upgrade price from the DVD to the Blu-ray to the Special Edition to the 3D Special Edition?

Answer: because pricing is determined solely by "what the market will bear." The Market. That's US, folks. Time to tell these insanely rich studios that we've borne all we can bear and we cants bear no more.

I'll be looking for a copy of this Blu-ray in the bargain bins, when the Special Edition comes out this fall. Hope to see a lot of others doing the same!

This is a major disappointment on all levels. It is dreadfully overpackaged, one of the errors that the people of Pandora would have rebelled against. And the packaging is useless. It carries no information and gets in the way of even attempting to remove the discs. All gloss without purpose.

Then there is a terrible surprise ahead once you have a disc in your system. Each of the three versions begins on Disc 1, and continues on Disc 2. It would have been far more logical and less disturbing of the film had two complete versions been on Disc 1 and the longest of the three been placed alone on Disc 2. But that would have been logical, and the packagers of this "Collector's Edition" must have intended it to "colllect dust" on a shelf rather than be used.

The bonuses on Disc 3 are not worth a Disc. Cameron needs a swift kick in the ego. Yes, the movie is technically advanced in many ways over what has gone before. But it does not matter if the narrative is not worth the effort. Here, the story is often not logical, even given a few desperate leaps of logic, and the characters lack any true depth or soul. In fact, "Why" comes to mind frequently; why make a movie wherein nothing new is said or something old said in a new way. All we have is the technology, and that is worth only one visit. Why waste technology on a vehicle that is dull to begin why? Take away Pandora and this is a Grade B Minus movie that no one took the care and time to intelligently write. It is a throwaway, like the first two versions of "The Maltese Falcon": great with Bogart, horrible in the first two attempts to film it. And the technology overwhelms Cameron, whose imagination is far more limited than he imagines.

But back to this version: why? Who needed it if this is all it has to offer? Three sliced up versions and an Ode to Cameron do not a Collector's Edition make. Save yourself the annoyance of a bad idea done badly. If you must buy "Avatar", get the version you want in a single disc format and at least be spared the nuisance of some inept mind's idea of how to flatter Cameron while ignoring the customer.

Ah, well. At least "Avatar" made me realize just how good "The Wizard of Oz" is. A new world, new technology, and a soul.

Someone haul this corpse out of here while I watch a film that truly is special.

I liked the movie from a technological perspective, great visual effects, and great extensive use of Motion Capture. Though when it comes to story line, we've seen it all before. For this I give it a less than stellar rating.
