After reading a good book or seeing a good movie, one finds oneself wanting to share scenes with a friend, to say, Didn't you like that scene? or Wasn't the character something? or Wasn't the approach fascinating? So I'm glad to have a spot, albeit in the ether, to share nods on how moving Ritchie is, or on how clever a couple of details or situations are, and on how, somehow, despite the subject of murder, this novel leaves one feeling soothed. It certainly captivated me in its setting and characters and the cross-cultural concerns and several carefully woven threads of plot lines.
