Orr: My Story by Bobby Orr
Orr: My Story by Bobby Orr
4.0 out of 5 stars True Bobby Orr, April 13 2014
Anyone who buys this thinking Orr is going to throw teammates under a bus or spread a lot of locker room dirt on the pages doesn't know him very well. If you read the dust cover you will get the idea of what the book is all about. He is not writing to tell you all about his records and awards. This book is solely about growing up in his family, what it's like to be an NHL player and inspirations to get you there and keep you there. A very good read. His ghost writer, Vern Stenlund who I remember watching when he was in junior A with the London Knights does an excellent job putting the book together. I hope that Stenlund comes through with is comment in the acknowledgements that there is… Read more
Gordie Howe's Son by Mark G Howe
Gordie Howe's Son by Mark G Howe
3.0 out of 5 stars A little disappointing, April 13 2014
I was always a Gordie Howe fan and also a fan of Mark even though I never rooted or cared for the teams he played for. I was really looking forward to reading this book however by the time I finished it I liked Mark a lot less than when I started reading it. He really comes off in the book as a bragger and a little full of himself. It was probably unfortunate that I happened to read Bobby Orr's book My Story right before I bought this one. Orr's book was all about the team did this and the team did that but all I got out of Howe's book is me. me, me. Now there is no question that Mark was a very good NHL defenceman but there seems to be several places in the book where he puts himself on a… Read more
A Bullet for Joey (Bilingual) [Import] DVD ~ Edward G. Robinson
A Bullet for Joey (Bilingual) [Import] DVD ~ Edward G. Robinson
1.0 out of 5 stars Tough to watch, Aug. 13 2010
I love gangster flicks and especially old ones. I am positive this is one that both Raft and Robinson probably wish they passed on. I have tried to watch it 3 times and haven't been able to make it through. Buy it if you are a collector but don't buy it hoping for an evening of entertainment.
