I have always enjoyed Sally Melville's books, but this one is especially appreciated. After finishing yet another sweater that looked awful on me, I almost resigned myself to knitting socks for the rest of my life. Then this book came to the rescue! The simple modifications Sally proposes here have renewed my enthusiasm for tackling sweater projects that I will be able to wear with pride. Of most value for me: calculating the correct proportions for a midlength, shaped sweater (knitting in a balance point so that the sweater will have flattering proportions for both skirts and pants), and how to suggest an hourglass figure with moderate waist shaping.

Even twenty years later, this show still engages the viewer and lifts the spirits. There were many exceptional qualities in this series: the amazing chemistry between the leads; the clever, witty dialogue and quirky, well-rounded characters; the delightful and humorous treatment of the fantasy elements; plus a hopeful morality that was never preachy. I especially loved the wise and caring family support that Clark Kent received from his adoptive parents (I am so glad they deviated from the comic books in this regard).

My musical tastes are eclectic (from Linkin Park to Enya), but I can honestly say that I have never listened much to country music - until now! To borrow a lyric from the title track, Kane's style can be described as "rock`n roll rodeo", and the resulting fusion is fantastic.

I personally enjoy the country-spiced hard-rockin' songs best: "The House Rules" and "Whiskey in Mind" are outstanding tracks in this style. The slower songs have a stronger country flavour, but the lyrics are so compelling that I end up captivated in spite of myself ;-)

For me, I am initially attracted to a song by the music, but the lyrics are of critical importance for repeated listening… Read more
