With the sudden popularity of hardcore as a whole, it is going to take some real talent to break out from the bunch. And from the bunch, the one name you are going to hear a lot of is Unearth.

The Oncoming Storm shouldn't even necessarily be viewed as a hardcore CD, cause it has some of the best pure metal I've heard in a while. The dueling guitars of Ken and Buzz make some of the most haunting combinations since the boys of Slayer. Hell, along with Shadows Fall, these guys are keeping the dream of old school metal alive.
