Elton John: Elton 60 - Live at Madison Square Garden

This is the best Elton John concert I have ever seen, even taking into account the live ones I have personally attended. The many close up shots mean that you get to view the concert better than if you were there yourself. Picture quality, camera angles, sound quality, song selection, and performance are all superb. Not to be missed by fans and non-fans alike!

Who could have thought that these great songs could be improved on? Yet that is what the Martins have done. Bravo! I am normally a purist, but I enjoyed this album tremendously from beginning to end. It gave me the feeling of Beatlemania all over again, but updated to the 21st century. While some may say this is tampering with perfection, I say it reveals how endlessly creative the Beatles materials are, and how perfect they have to be that they can be made to sound fresh yet completely genuine and original. All music lovers should hear this set, July 12 2006

If you are looking to experience the art of interpretation, look no further than this. Despite my being a long time music lover, with more than 1,100 CDs in my collection, I had not previously heard anything like what is recorded on these discs. I thought I had heard enough Brahms symphonies and was getting tired of them. Was I in for a surprise. Merely 3 minutes into the first track, my jaw was on the floor. Talk about shock and awe!

It is a pity that musicians of the quality of Furtwangler are far and few in between, and more than half a century after these recordings were made, still no one can inject as much emotional power into this music as Furtwangler did back then… Read more
