I prefer this movie to Al Gore's because:
1 - It is not just about global warming but about all human activities
2 - It is scary but not gloom and doom
3 - One third of the movie is about solutions
4 - The 11th hour solutions (the second part of the DVD) is just fascinating. Scientists explain that our technology still has a lot to learn from nature, that animals and plants might be more complex (intelligent?) then we think, how a fungus could save us from bioterrorism, etc.
5 - It makes us marvel about the beauty of creation

I did not expect such a good documentary from De Caprio.
I am going to buy 10 copies and offer it to all my friends.

In a word "Incredible." I have never written a review for
anything in my life.But I challenge anyone,
to not come away from this thinking very differently
about the choices they make every day.
Man... I never realized how much are addiction
to consumption keeps us trapped in lives most of us hate.

I am ditching the SUV ASAP.

I didn't expect much when I got the DVD but I was very surprised that 11th Hour was a balanced and thoughtful documentary unlike its cousin by Al Gore.

It does mention climate change but is generalized discussing the environment and the Western lifestyles we currently live are not sustainable and asks us to see the world differently; more as a web of interactive systems rather than single components of one system.

Taking a holistic approach, the documentary offers a positive outcome by making changes to the way we live and act in the world, we all can make a difference.

It is easier to watch and understand than Al Gore's and better suited for kids to learn about the environment, for adults it challenges our thinking and the basis for the lifestyles we currently enjoy.
