I pre-ordered this item before it was released. I was so excited to get the item to put on my new DSI XL. Unfortunately when I received the item it was not a very safe item to add to my DSI XL after all. Since the item was metal it had very sharp edges on it where you hands would be to hold the DSI. It was very uncomfortable, and I was afraid that it might cut me or someone else that played with the DSI. I returned the item and got a refund. I don't know if this is how all of these cases are made or if it was just a flaw in the one I received. Either way I wasn't about to purchase another to find out. Instead I purchased Nintendo DSi XL Crystal Case Plus - Smoked Black. This item is plastic and no one is at risk of getting scratched or cut, and it works great.

Love this case. It fits nice and snug, and keeps your system protected!! Although not so keen about silver. Really wish they has another color to choose from. The pen that came with it, is pretty comfortable, but not what I use all the time. I do like thicker pens. And this pen is about regular size. I would absolutly recommened this to anyone. It's worth the money!

I thought this would make a good protective case for the DSi XL. For basic scratch protection, sure it is, but I've noticed the felt lining is starting to come free with use. I wouldn't trust this case to protect the DSi from a drop or a fall though. Also, if you have a wrist strap on your DSi you will have to remove it before you can install this case.
