1.0 out of 5 stars The good and the bad March 29 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Not worth the money. Available apps change all the time so this book is out of date before it gets published. Who knows how many of these apps are still available. It's just easier and cheaper to go through google to find available apps. Plus you'll probably find something you could really use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource for unbiased reviews of Apps Nov. 6 2009
By Calchi - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a great reference tool with no b.s. This compact book contains concise summaries of key apps, separates them by category (business, games, social, etc) and let's you know if the app is free or has a fee. I've looked at numerous App-review sites, but usually find them to be biased - and since the App store is very crowded, this book cuts right to the good stuff. The time saved by not searching through the worthless Apps is definitely worth buying this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars iBook for iPhone Jan. 8 2010
By Lynette R. Fleming - Published on Amazon.com
This book is worth every penny you will spend to purchase it. It will save hours of your time searching for applications, and possibly hundreds of dollars purchasing the best downloads. Organized in twenty categories, you'll be able to find the best of everything, from education to photography, and from healthcare to travel. Joe Funk, a technology geek (just like me, only more so), gives us price, a summary, and why the editorial panel likes the featured application. Want to learn how to tie a bow tie or poach an egg? How to Videos, a free download, offers video instructions on how to do nearly everything. Sitting at work wondering what you're going to make for dinner? Whole Foods Market Recipes, another free download, to the rescue. Enter ingredients you have on hand, and this download will offer up suggested recipes. Use your iPhone as your shopping list. This one's my favorite application of all, as I often have a full refrigerator with no idea of what I want to make for dinner. Interested in the news? You can download The Wall Street Journal for free. By now I'm sure you have the picture ... more than 300 apps are reviewed, some free and some for purchase. Sitting in an airport waiting for a plane ... pull out this book and download a new application. Bored and sleepy waiting for your doctor's appointment? Riding in a car staring out the window? iPhone Apps Book to the rescue ... entertainment is just a fingertip away!

5.0 out of 5 stars i carry this with me everywhere Sept. 16 2009

I looked thru all of them and this is the best book for iphone apps users available.
It's fast and easy to read and the guidebook size allows you to take it with
you, making it the perfect commuter companion. I found the quick reviews and images invaluable (I can actually compare before buying) and it's a must have for anyone
into apps. I carry my Zaggat guide for restaurant reviews and now this for my apps!

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful Guide to iPhone and iPod Touch Apps Jan. 12 2011
By Dr. Bojan Tunguz - Published on Amazon.com
iPhone is one of the most successful and revolutionary electronic devices of all time. A big part of its success is due to the plethora of amusing, useful, and just plain silly applications that have been developed for it. As of this writing, there is well over 100,000 apps developed for all flavors of iOS, the operating system that runs on iPhone. Due to this embarrassment of riches when it comes to apps, it can sometimes be really difficult to find the right kind of app for any given purpose. And then there are all those quirky apps for purposes that you could not even imagine had existed.

This small book aims to help serious iPhone and iPod touch users get the best out of their device. Each page lists several interesting apps, gives a small screenshot of them, and provides a short description, the price of the app and a quick rating. Apps are organized in several categories, depending on their primary use.

Unfortunately, as this book was published in 2009 it feels a bit dated by now. It would have been useful if a new version had come out that takes account of iPhone 4 and all the latest features of iOS. Nonetheless, most of the apps presented in here are still available, and majority of them have seen further improvements.

4.0 out of 5 stars iphone apps book April 28 2010
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I am a new itouch owner and I found this book helpful because it gave me a place to start to find apps that would be useful to me. The layout is good. The book is divided into different sections such as exercise apps, time management and games ect. It list 5 or 6 apps under each section in detail plus gives a smaller description of several more. There are full color pictures as well as a helpful hint at the bottom of each app. I have downloaded for free or bought a number of the apps listed in the book and have not been disappointed with any of them. If your new to using apps It's a great book if you have been downloading apps for a long time it's probably too basic a book for you. Plus being in a book form it allowed me to continue to find info on possible apps even when I was somewhere I could not use my itouch to access the itune store.
