The first collections in this series feature art by talented european artist Alberto Giolitti and writer Len Wein who would become an important contributor to DC comics. If you enjoy Star Trek The Original Series and feel nostalgic for the period before ST:TNG you should enjoy these stories.
If you are a comic buff and are looking for a restored or recolored edition you may be disappointed. The art in these editions has been scanned from yellowed comic pages complete with the original coloring and registration errors. Some color balancing or work may have been done, but visually it's not an obvious improvment over the Golden Press collections of the 70's. The 1970's Enterprise Logs, however, were printed on low grade newprint with flimsy bindings. These new collections feature gloss attractive covers, new editorials and table of contents that are all top notch. The paper quality and binding are very good.
Summary: Great material, great production value, ashame better source material could not be found for the art.
