Book Description

From ornately decorative to excruciatingly stringent, Japanese rope bondage is an art which has developed over centuries of martial and erotic practice. Now, accomplished Japanese-born pro-domme and bondage practitioner Midori shows step by step how to achieve beautiful and exciting Japanese bondage on a variety of genders and body types. Each chapter starts with a spectacular, tasteful full-color photo of the finished bondage pose - harnesses, hogties, standing and bent-over poses, and more - then goes back and explains with text and line art how each rope and knot is placed to achieve the final result. Readers can use the detailed instructions to experiment safely and erotically with their own partners - or simply enjoy viewing the pictures of Midori`s expertise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 'how-to' beginners guide, Jun 21 2004
By Jat Wijnen - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is an excellent guide for beginners who would like to explore (japanese) BDSM. No, it's not a photografy/art book! In fact there are only a handfull of photographs in it; but YES it is a great book for people who are new to the subject and are curious to find out if japanese BDSM is their thing. I was -and still am- a complete novice in BDSM, but after reading just a little I was able to tie my loved one in a couple of very exciting postures, and will continue to have fun with this book for while to come.
PRO'S:
You get 6 basic postures, from which you can really get an idea of Japanese bondage on different gender and body types -not just slender barbydolls- from which you can improvise numerous new combinations yourself.
The book leads you towards each position in small, quite easy to follow steps with drawn pictures.
You also get a few very clear chapters on the background of Jap. BDSM, but -more important to me- also a good background in rope-type, body types, safety procedures and how to create the right playfull atmosphere. Within this atmosphere you can make the experience either as hardcore of soft and gentle as you please.
CONS
Sometimes -in my opinion as a knot enthousiast- there are little mistakes in the knot-drawings; but for the most the drawings are very clear.
North-Western Europeans watch out with rope length! The author warns for bigger sized western people when she discusses rope lenght, but still from a US perspective! For my slender 1.70m (5.5ft)intermediate length Dutch girlfriend the 8 meter (25ft)rope Midori advises is still quite short. My advise: Buy close to double lengths: You can always use the excess for other exciting ideas.

If you're interested in BDSM with a Japanese bite, this book is certainly worth a try in my opinion. It's really very respective to all sorts of BDSM and apetites. The pics are clear instructive and erotic, but not hardcore pornographic. There's all space to make of BDSM what suits you best.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide!, Dec 2 2003
By "joeaverage99" (Worcester, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This guide is clear, well-written and beautifully illustrated. I am only giving it four stars instead of five because I felt it should have had some more eloborate/advanced designs, and because the diagrams are OCCASIONALY a little hard to follow the first time- other than those small complaints, I find this book to be excellent and would reccomend it to anyone interestd in Japanese Bondage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Shibari at a glance, Jul 11 2003

(REAL NAME)
I found this to be an excelent book. Midori did a fine job authoring this work, but what else would one expect from Fetish Diva Midori? The illustrations are great and none of the typical knarley looking knots seen in other books. Every Boy Scout should take a lesson from Midori and Craig Morey.
*****Hats off to Midori and Morey
