This review is from: The Devil Colony: A Sigma Force Novel (Hardcover)
I am just sitting down to read this James Rollins novel. Working my way through all of his writings has been a delightful adventure. I wondered how worn this book would be as it came from a library, but was happily surprised that though obviously read a number of times, there are still a good number of reads left in it. There was one slightly torn page and the usual library name markings but that little matters once you get into one of his adventures. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was its obviously aged state as compared with a new book - and I do love new books. Having said that, I would happily order from this book seller again.I also enjoyed looking up the library where it found its first home - the Multnomah County Library in Oregon...An old and beautiful building built back in 1893. The history of its founding anchored this copy in my library in a way that perhaps a new book could never do. So all in all... I'm smiling.

Must Read For Thriller Lovers,
By
This review is from: The Devil Colony (Mass Market Paperback)
If you like Dan Brown (The DaVinci Code) or Steve Berry (The Templar Legacy), you're gonna love this thriller by James Rollins.Puzzles, Thomas Jefferson's secret codes, volcanoes, a secret society -- it's got it all in spades. A real page turner. This is my first book by Rollins but I definitely want to read more. Good, pulse pounding action in a historical setting. Was the founding of the United States based on a fundamental lie? This novel is rich in native american culture, Mormonism, science and some great settings from Yellowstone National Park to Iceland. Definitely a must read for serious thriller enthusiasts.

Another fantastic novel by James Rollins,
This review is from: The Devil Colony (Paperback)
I've been a fan of James Rollins since I read Map of Bones several years ago and his Sigma series is one of my favourites of all time. The Devil Colony is another fantastic addition to the ongoing story of Sigma and its characters. Along with those who have been with us since the beginning (Painter, Pierce, Monk, Seichan, etc...) there are some great new characters as well. The villains are also as nasty and as fascinating as ever and the mystery of the Guild just keeps getting deeper and more captivating. If you're a fan of James Rollins then you know how good he is and you'll know to get this book. It's definitely worth it. If you've never read James Rollins - what are you waiting for?? His stories are incredibly entertaining and intriguing. A lot of research goes into his work and his novels are all equally impossible to put down. All in all, I absolutely adored this book and I can't wait to see what else he has in store for us.

Wow! James Rollins did it again! No body does it better than him. I couldn't put the book down. The Devil Colony is a true Masterpiece. The story line is great and it keeps you on the edge, lot's of action and thrills. Amazing journey from Utah to Iceland, to Fort Knox and ended in Yellowstone Park! I recommend every one to read this book. Also I liked the ending and the deciphering of Lewis's letter, I think I know what is the topic of the next book "Ghent family'!!

You'll Want to Read it Again,

This review is from: The Devil Colony (Paperback)
I've read every book in the Sigma series. James Rollins is the kind of writer that keeps you interested from page 1 to the end. Devil Colony is a must must read. You always learn something from his work. He should have been a teacher actually. The lessons he gives you in history to the new inventions of today, are some you've never heard of. As soon as I'd finished this book I knew in a couple months time I was going to pick it up again. There is always something I miss and wanted to remember. I recommend this book and if I were able to give it more than 5 stars I would.

I found this book disappointing and not close to the author's previous more gripping novels with superior plots and characters. Would recommend Amazonia, Sandstorm and Map of Bones, but would give this one a miss.

the usual drivel from this author,

I left Rollins behind as many as 8 books ago. I picked this one up out of curiousity and the story line. I was hoping for sonme improvement in the writing and story-telling but I was grossly disappointed. His best work was his earliest work, but that was probably when he was working very hard to get a niche in the market. As with other authors that I shall not name, once he became 'established' the quality quickly deteriorated. This book is no exception. Too bad so sad.
