Robin Hudson's one tough cookie --, Jui 11 2000
-- And so she should be if she's to survive her reversals of fortune at work and in love. Relagated to an undesireable job at the TV station where she works (due to un-couthness during a live White House broadcast) and demoted to the title of ex-wife, Robin seems to be one of those people to whom trouble is perpetually attracted. Having to face the ex's chipper young 'other woman' *and* deal with a murdered blackmailer requires all the resourcefulness Robin can muster.The 'who' in whodunit came as a surprise to me. This is my first book by Sparkle Hayter, but it won't be the last.

Very Funny!, Nov. 8 1999

While this book is classified a mystery, it's more about life in an office setting and the lead characters view about her co-workers. I wish I could say some of the things she does to her boss!The mystery does seem a little over complicated at times but it was refreshing to see the mystery unfold by someone who wasn't totally into the murder investigation and didn't have all this insider information. More believable. Will be going to look for other books in the series this weekend.

What a talent...., Aoû 21 1999

I am so glad I discovered this author! She has a wonderful, lively writing style that grabs your attention, and doesn't let go. And I was actually surprised by "whodunit", which is unusual for me. I am ordering more books by the author today!

Fast, funny and wry. A mystery, too., Juil 12 1999

Hayter is a great writer. Robin, her fictional heroine, sizes up people and situations with lightning speed and acerbic wit. I would pay her to hang out at my office and write about what she sees.The book is a mystery, but I didn't notice. I was more interested in listening to Robin get herself in trouble with her superiors, insult her detractors and describe the overall state of her disheveled life. I imagine Hayter can do well in most genres, both fiction and non-fiction.

I've been in such a reading funk lately- not having much of an attention span to read anything but the newspaper or magazines the past 2 months but Hayter's book was such fun that I was glued to it from start to finish. I can't wait to read her other books!

Fabulous glamour real girl meets strange world., Nov. 30 1998

Robin Hudson is a dame's dame. She might be a ordinary woman trapped in Rita Hayworth's body, but, she's definitely the kind of woman you want on your side in a fight or at least, you want her cat on your side. She's not perfect, she doesn't have men swooning at her feet and she hates her job -- how close is that to real life? The Robin Hudson books are mind candy with vitamins and minerals. A definite must read!

Fast-paced and humorous murder mystery, Aoû 23 1998

Although the murder mystery aspects of the plot are straight forward, it is the author's humor that moves the book forward at a rapid pace. Robin Hudson is not your typical fictional sleuth, because she spends more time working than investigating murder mysteries. Robin's caustic wit is the highlight of the book, and one that could sustain a continuing series.

Great book., Oct. 6 1997
I loved this book. My husband loved this book (once he got over the cover!). It is never boring and doesn't have dull spots. And the characters, even the minor ones, are well developed and realistic. My first copy got ruined in the rain. I got another one and it was just as good on the second read as the first.

Do not judge this book by its cover! Sparkle's character, Robin Hudson, is a laugh a minute. If you love mysteries and laughter and you haven't read this book I advise you to put this one in your shopping basket without further delay. You won't regret it
