Not only is Tariq Ramadan inviting all Muslims to think, reflect, be independent and critical thinkers, he is also stating that we need to use equally all sources of knowledge available to us: the revealed text of the Qur'an, the example of the life of prophet Muhammad, the knowledge generated by the study of nature (science). It is more of textbook than a general reading book, I'm not really a student of Islamic culture & history so I found the book little bit over the top and sometimes boring with too much details. For any serious student this book could provide a lot of valuable information esp on Islamic schools of jurisprudence

Not only is Tariq Ramadan inviting all Muslims to think, reflect, be independent and critical thinkers, he is also stating that we need to use equally all sources of knowledge available to us: the revealed text of the Qur'an, the example of the life of prophet Muhammad, the knowledge generated by the study of nature (science). He is showing that, in fact, even though contemporary Muslims have not been good examples of this type of thinking, it is what the Qur'an expects of every single Muslim.
