This review is from: The Musician's Way: A Guide to Practice, Performance, and Wellness (Paperback)
The Musician's Way is a book aimed at the developing professional musician who is studing music at university, but is also very useful for the amateur. This book does not focus on the emotional/passionate side of making music, but rather gives practical, down to earth advice on how to practice, how to keep yourself healthy throughout a life of making music, and how to perform (including managing performance anxiety). There are photographs on the correct ways to hold a number of instruments, and advice on such matters as protecting your hearing. Finally, the book promotes a website that provides such practical tools as a practice guide. I recommend this book for all amateurs who want to improve their playing in a considered, organized way.

This material exceeded all expectation. It is amongst the most comprehensive and articulate materials of its kind. Every professional should own this manual and at the same time, it should be required reading for every music faculty student. There is no better guide for learning music and for music-making. |
