The Musician's Way is a book aimed at the developing professional musician who is studing music at university, but is also very useful for the amateur.
This book does not focus on the emotional/passionate side of making music, but rather gives practical, down to earth advice on how to practice, how to keep yourself healthy throughout a life of making music, and how to perform (including managing performance anxiety). There are photographs on the correct ways to hold a number of instruments, and advice on such matters as protecting your hearing.
Finally, the book promotes a website that provides such practical tools as a practice guide.
I recommend this book for all amateurs who want to improve their playing in a considered, organized way.
