Another "keeper" cookbook from Ina Garten,
By Iveta (Vancouver, BC Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Barefoot Contessa How Easy Is That?: Fabulous Recipes & Easy Tips (Hardcover)
I have eagerly awaited the release of Ina Garten's pre-Christmas, pre-New Year cookbook. I finally got it on Friday and, as with every single of her books, have not been disappointed. I have read a lot of bellyaching reviews from people who felt that this book should have more "new" recipes etc., and - fair enough - some of the recipes are reworked recipes from previous books, but it is a beautiful book with great recipes that never fail, great photographs of each dish (not just a few dishes) and great advice on how to stay calm, organized and collected when entertaining. Not everyone has Ina's previous books and there still is a lot of really really good recipes that are new. I actually sometimes like to have a variation of an old classic as in my busy day I don't have time to experiment with new takes on dishes that I like. All of Ina's cookbooks are heavily used in my kitchen and this one will soon have splatters of sauces and butter stains, too: ) The garlic roasted cauliflower, the pear apple sauce, the rich beef barley soup and the greek panzanella are only a few of amazingly good recipes that alone are worth the purchase price of the book. Thanks again, Ina.

Lots of flavour..love the recipes,

In my opinion, this is a really nice cookbook, beautiful photographs for each recipes which I really like. Well written and and easy recipes as the title says. Highly recommend. By the way, I do not agree with previous comments; people do not buy cookbook to get morals from how they should eat or live. They just want good recipes with flavour in order to appreciate a nice good meal at home. Bravo Ina and keep the good work!

I gave this book to my 16 year old daughter who is just starting to develop an interest in cooking. She has cooked several of the dishes. All have been well within her capacity and have turned out very well. I recommend this to any beginning cook looking to extend their range.

Another Book of Amazing Recipes,
This review is from: Barefoot Contessa How Easy Is That?: Fabulous Recipes & Easy Tips (Hardcover)
Another GREAT cookbook by Ina Garten. Many a recipe to create memorable moments around the table with family and friends. Always a pleasure to read and cook from Ina's books. The negative review on this book is just silly. People can be overweight and still healthy. The obesity problem in this country can't be solved or lessened by one person alone and is not at all Ina's responsibility. It is my opinion that it is up to the people themselves to make a change in their own lives. Everyone has choices in this life. People choose what to cook and what to put in their mouths. Portion control is also an option. Ina is not to blame for their issues. If you don't like the recipes in this book...don't buy it. There are plenty a book out there to satisfy the likes of people that wish to eat vegetarian meals etc. This book and the rest of Ina's collection are top notch. I wouldn't change a thing.

I now have every one of her cookbooks. These are basically the only cookbooks I use. Easy, great tips, beautiful photos, and I have not yet had any that didn't turn out and look very close to the pics. This book is another in her fantastic collection. I HIGHLY recommend to all that love to cook.

Fabulous Cookbook with Simple Ingredients,

I decided to purchase this book after seeing it at my daughter's house. I am having a baby shower for her in a couple of weeks, and the recipes looked so enticing and easy to follow; beautiful photography as well with simple ingredients that are widely available. I am making a lot of the sandwiches and salads from this cookbook for her shower. I just enjoy sitting outside in my back garden and reading this book from cover to cover; also love how Ina Garten has incorporated some great tips into this book.

How Fattening is That? Ina Garten Turns a Blind Eye to the Obesity Epidemic in America.,
This review is from: Barefoot Contessa How Easy Is That?: Fabulous Recipes & Easy Tips (Hardcover)
This book should be called How Fattening is That? Ina Garten Turns a Blind Eye to the Obesity Epidemic in America. Ina, I love you: please wake up. Please wake up. You cannot continue to cook like this, you cannot continue to eat like this, without regard to health. Only 2 out of 20 dinner recipes do NOT include meat, spaghetti with garlic and a risotto; where is the vegetable entrée? You can't eat meat every night, right? You'll have to change sooner or later, love, look at Mark Bittman, look at Bill Clinton. We need you around. This needs to be your last I-am-blind-to-my-own-weight-problem-and-the-obesity-EPIDEMIC-in-this-country cookbook, gf. Please switch to a more plant-based diet --and give it a better name, and make it GOOD, and you will probably double your following, and I will carry the banner. The roasted butternut squash recipe IS delicious, let's see more of that. Also, is it just my copy, or are the beginning pages out of order?
