Stumbled on this book at my local library and just had to own it. Such great tasting recipes - that don't break the bank either!

I really liked it, there's alot of good recipes and I also really like that there are some non-vegan raw recipes included. Very simple and easy to follow, delicious! Much better than most raw food books out there and the sweet foods are not sickenly sweet but just right. Also doesn't depend on lots of special, expensive superfoods. I found it down to earth, some neat inspiring stories were also included and a few pictures. I only would have liked to see more pics. I'd recommend getting this book along with her first book, Eating in the Raw.

I bought this book after seeing Carol Alt on TV recently. I like the book, too, and agree that it gives a lot of practical directions for beginners in the kitchen, such as "Put the Zucchini in the food processor and pulse until it is chopped into very small, uniform pieces, but not to the point of being mush. You want to retain some texture."
However, there are two things I don't like about the book:
1. None of the recipes have a summary about nutritional content (calories, proteins, fat, etc.). If you live on a caloric budget, you'll have to calculate these values yourself from the ingredient list.
2. The index at the end of the book is not cross-referenced. For example "Zucchini Crackers" shows up under "Crackers, Zucchini" but not under "Zucchini." This is not very helpful if you look for ideas about what to do with the stuff you have left in the fridge.
Still, I think this book is a very good introduction and has some good ideas for raw recipes -- and the pluses outweigh the minuses by far.
