I purchased this series for my 14 yr old daughter for Christmas as it was listed under children 9-12 and Teen. Imagine my surprise to find multiple references to oral sex. So glad that I read these first. I definately don't believe that they are appropriate for her age. I did enjoy the series but won't be giving them to her anytime soon!

The editor or these books must be a graduate of PC Cast's English classes. I don't know if I can remember seeing such poor use of the English language in print. These books are badly written, unnecessarily full of foul language, repetitive (to the point if insult) and lame. Don't bother.

The story really starts to pick up in this book. There are so many things happening and Zoey is caught up in the middle of everything. She's always rushing to solve one problem after another and doesn't even have a spare moment for herself. Add to the fact that Zoey is juggling three different guys in her life and all the secrets she has been keeping from her friends finally come to light.I admit I'm a little jealous of Zoey. It seems like every other guy has a thing for her. She has Erik who is seemingly perfect, Heath who's kind of like a little puppy dog and so devoted to her and now Loren who's a professor and he's older. After all the of Zoey's secrets come out she doesn't get a chance to explain why she's kept so much from her close friends. So at the end of this book their friendship is really up in the air. The gang is mad at Zoey for not trusting them but Zoey doesn't really have a choice as adult vamps can read their minds and find out everything that Zoey knows. Zoey really needs her friends on her side so I hope they can all patch things up in the next book. We also see more of a human side to Aphrodite as the façade she puts on starts to crumple. Still as Zoey says they're not so much as friends, more like allies as they have a common enemy Of the three books I've read so far this was the best one. There were a lot of things happening simultaneously in the story which had me turning the pages. As I've said before, this is a series for older teens or adults especially for this book as it had some pretty steamy scenes in it.

When Zoey discovers the filthy, deranged shell of Stevie Rae snacking in an alley, she vows to help her friend regain her lost humanity. Sustained by human blood and prone to violent outbursts, Stevie Rae's new basic instincts require patience and caution from others.Aphrodite's remaining and newly acquired skills and assets result in an alliance of circumstance between herself and Zoey. Aphrodite endures recurrent abuse from Zoey's unforgiving friends and is willing to pay the ultimate price to seek Nyx's absolution for past actions. Previously ignited romantic interests continue and burn all involved. -I only have one complaint: The authors, once again, tried to "catch up" new readers by cramming explanations and events about the two preceding books into this one, making their writing "feel" forced. I hope they abort this poor technique in future sequels, or take some lessons from Cassandra Clare. Bring on the next one!

Zoey is still at the house of night, but with many more problems. Her best friend is undead and she's trying to juggle, two (or maybe 3!) boyfriends. At times like this you could really use someone to talk to, but now being unable to talk to her untrustworthy mentor Neferet, Zoey feels completley alone. On top of her worrying about Stevie Rae and Neferet Zoey also has to keep up with rituals, being the head of the Dark Daughters. But unfortunatley she also has to let Aphrodite into her circle after she proves that she has an affinity for earth. This book is so good and the whole thing is full of tension and suspense! I can't wait for the next one to come out! Trust me, you'll love this book!

Trust is a powerful emotion, mostly unnoticed until it's broken.Zoey can no longer trust her mentor, Neferet. But the bigger question Zoey must ask herself is how long her friends will continue to trust her. Zoey's afraid that sooner or later, they will uncover the truth about Stevie Rae, who hovers on the brink of life and death. Technically, they watched her die, but she is still alive. She lives as a monster, with just a little piece of her soul left. Zoey believes that she can bring her best friend back; unfortunately, she'll need help from Aphrodite. Not only does she have to keep Stevie Rae's "death" a secret from her friends, but she also has to make up excuses for admitting Aphrodite into their circle. Readers will devour the third book in the HOUSE OF NIGHT vampyre series and eagerly await the next delicious morsel of the tale. Reviewed by: Jennifer Rummel

Not suitable for teens!,
This review is from: Chosen: A House of Night Novel (Paperback)
I don't recommend this series of books to teenagers. These books focus on sexual attention and a lot of coarse language. I have lost the interest of the book because the only thing that the main character talk about and think about its sex and boyf...riends. And yes, the constant repetition of details from the other novels regarding the plot and character descriptions that irritate me. I was skimming over the third book and jumped to the end.
